Private Investigators Filling the Gaps in Victoria’s Safety Net
Victoria is facing a critical moment.
This year alone, more than 300 police officers are expected to resign or retire—on top of the 700 already on leave or WorkCover. With Victoria Police needing 1,100 new officers just to restore capacity, experts warn it could take until 2030 before numbers recover.
Meanwhile, crime has surged 20% in the past year, including an 11% rise in family incidents. Prisons are stretched, courts are overloaded, and delays are growing. As of April 2025, more than 6,400 people are behind bars, with 40% on remand—a 22% increase in adults and an alarming 71% spike in youth remands compared to last year.
For victims of domestic violence (including coercive and psychological control), fraud, or scams, these delays aren’t just frustrating—they’re devastating. Too often, sensitive cases are misclassified as “civil” matters or placed in queues that take months, even years, to move. But when safety and justice are at stake, waiting isn’t an option.
That’s where The Find Group steps in.
We are increasingly being engaged by individuals and organisations who need lawful, outcome-focused investigations—delivered quickly and with absolute discretion. By acting decisively, we not only protect vulnerable people but also help relieve pressure on public systems that are at breaking point.
The reality is clear: addressing this challenge requires both reform and partnership. Alongside rebuilding frontline police and resourcing the courts, it’s time to recognise the vital role that professional private investigators play in safeguarding communities.
Because when justice is delayed, justice is too often denied.
