After many years of profiling clients using Feng Shui tools, I realised that people that are out of balance and seeking harmony usually have a physical equivalent in their home environment. A simple way of explaining this is that in your home environment you need a balance of Yin and Yang. Yin refers to female energy, harmony, good health, and a quiet and peaceful environment. Yang energy refers to male energy, drive, career, motivation, and financial rewards.

Homes with too much Yin energy usually present still energy, not a lot of moving air, curtains that are often drawn, and too much darkness. I have noticed that people in this environment can feel a lack of motivation, struggle with health issues that have a psychological impact, and feel low.

An environment that is too Yang presents with music that is too loud, excess sunlight, a lot of shouting and screaming. People in an environment with too much Yang energy usually have issues relating to anger and frustration, can be argumentative, and/or place too much emphasis on career and money.

In Feng Shui we look for balance, which means ensuring that Yin and Yang energies are active where they can be most beneficial. Yin energy works well in bedrooms and meditation rooms. Yang energy is better in living areas and the music room. Some areas are considered neutral in Feng Shui, that is, they can be either Yin or Yang depending on how they are utilize. Examples are the study and the kitchen.

Feng Shui is all about the flow of energy. Picture yourself entering a house and observe how easy it is walking around it. The biggest hindrance to the flow of energy is clutter. When a client is struggling with a certain issue, it is often quite easy to identify it by looking at their clutter. For example, a person struggling with health issues will often have clutter in their pantry/ fridge while struggles with romance will prompt me to analyse the master bedroom.

On my next post I will unpack further the issue of clutter and your external surroundings. Send me a message if you would like more information on how to improve your environment.

The Wood Element and the Year of the Rabbit

As we know, the Year of the Rabbit is a strong year consisting of Water and Wood. February and March are pure Wood months. As Feng Shui is about harmony and balance, an abundance of Wood produces a strong energy.
Our Four Pillars of Destiny consist of 5 elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The Wood element in the current month will affect each person in a different way:
If you were born in February/ March, and your Day element is Wood, the extra Wood energy can affect you with feelings of being polarized, not letting go of issues, and anger, which can be felt in your joints, shoulders and back. To counteract this, it is recommended being flexible, in particular during the months of February and March.
For those born in May/ June, with Fire as their Day element, the Wood energy provides support and resources.
If you born in August/ September, and your Day element is Metal, the current Wood energy creates opportunities for Business and financial rewards.
For people born in November/ December, with Water as their Day element, the Wood can produce fame and recognition.
And for those with Earth as their Day element, the Wood can produce feelings of disturbance, as Wood overwhelms the Earth element.
If you would like to know your Day element and the impact of the Rabbit Year, you can message Garry with your date of birth.

2023 – The Year of the Rabbit
The Year of the Rabbit consists of two elements: the Heavenly Stem of Water and the Earthly Stem of Wood. The combination of Water and Wood creates a very strong Wood year. In the positive polarity, Wood means a lot of goodwill in terms of humanitarian endeavours. In the other polarity, it can create frustration and anger, which will result in a substantial amount of litigation and lawsuits.
The strong Wood element affects the liver. It is therefore wise not to over-indulge in alcohol.
The Rabbit is predominantly associated with the East, thus affecting the Eastern part of the world, or in the microcosm, the Eastern states. In the previous three years (2020, 2021, and 2022), we were under the influence of strong Water. This energy is now abating as the cycle is coming to an end.
The Rabbit, which is a Flower of Romance element, creates the ideal circumstances for romance, particularly in the months of February, June, and October.
The Year of the Rabbit will affect each person differently according to their personal Destiny and Feng Shui. If you would like to explore how the Year of the Rabbit influences your personal Destiny, you can contact Garry Hickey, Feng Shui Master, on 0411 860 785.

2020 is a unique year in Feng Shui.
The year of the Rat heralds the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. It is a year of dramatic changes. The previous Year of the Rat was 2008, the year of the Global Financial Crisis. In Feng Shui, the rat represents Water. The top stem of 2020 is Yang Metal. In Chinese metaphysics, Metal makes Water, causing 2020 to be an extremely strong water year.
Metal represents technology whilst Water represents intelligence. The combination of these two elements results in creative and increased use of technology (e.g. virtual meetings for work and social occasions).
In Feng Shui we attribute an emotion to each element. The emotion associated with the year 2020 Water element is fear, whilst the emotion attributed to Metal is grief. Combining these two elements and their associated emotions, 2020 is a year of extreme fear related to grief.
Each element also relates to an organ in our bodies. Metal relates to the lungs and Water relates to the kidneys. By association, in terms of health, 2020 brings about an increase in water in the lungs (e.g. pneumonia) and kidney afflictions. The impact on finances in 2020 is a consequence of extreme fear of contagion and its impact on the health system worldwide.
Summing up, the combination of the elements influencing the Year of the Rat, is perfectly represented by the impact of the corona-virus in 2020.
In the month of May, its Fire element warms the Water, increasing enthusiasm and bringing the energy of the Year of the Rat into balance.

A simple guide to Feng Shui

Feng Shui is an ancient science of observation and interpretation of our natural world, originated in China and dating back over thousands of years.

Feng Shui means “Wind and Water”. Energy travels by wind and settles at water. Our environment represents a place where energy settles.

Have you ever noticed that, when passing a property or building that you like, you will look at it every time, regardless of how many times you have seen it? This has the effect of sending good Feng Shui energy to its occupants. It is not surprising that these properties sell at a premium.

Energy flows like a river. It is better for it to travel without blockages or stagnant areas. In evaluating the Feng Shui, we look for these blockages to improve the environment. Over the years, we have noticed that recommendations to change your Feng Shui are not always implemented. The reason being there needs to be a change in one’s own energy that is equal to the Feng Shui –

‘Change yourself, change your Feng Shui. Change your Feng Shui, change yourself.’

Now, let’s look at how to improve the front entrance’s Feng Shui (Red Phoenix):
•Clear clutter, which includes the driveway and walkway to the front entrance.
•Ensure that plants and flowers are healthy, fragrant and vibrant-looking.
•Have the area well lit.
•Keep the area clean and free of cobwebs and grime.
•If possible, keep cars clear of the front entrance.

These changes will create fame and recognition, which will be observed by the neighbours commenting on “how good your front area looks”. It can also facilitate job promotion and recognition in the workplace.

In our next blog we will explore how energy flow can be improved around your house exterior.

A Feng Shui consultant, using creativity and knowledge, can replicate an environment where auspicious energy can accumulate.
