Respectfully, I’m not interested in letting my nervous system stage a full-blown invasion of my prefrontal cortex just because I forgot to set a boundary and ate a piece of toast for lunch. 🙄
But also… that’s exactly what happens.
When your nervous system is already running hot, the small things stop being small. A missed meal. A yes that should have been a no. A notification at 9pm. Suddenly your body is treating Tuesday like a survival situation.
It’s not dramatic. It’s biology.
Your prefrontal cortex - the part responsible for rational thinking, decision making, and not sending that email - is literally the first thing to go offline when your stress response kicks in.
Which is why “just calm down” is the least helpful advice in the history of advice.
The nervous system doesn’t respond to logic. It responds to signals.
The right movement. The right breath. The right patterns - repeated consistently - are what actually move the needle.
That’s what we work on inside Control Your Calm. One weekly session. Movement and mindset. And a growing library for the days when Tuesday feels like a threat.
