Another lockdown, another bottle of 10 year old Russell's Reserve
🥃
I've had a handful of these bottles in my time but I'll forever re-fill my original because the new label does nothing for me and the OG is so simple yet so sexy
🥃
Which label do you prefer?

DYC 15 años Single Malt Whisky
🇪🇸
Nicomedes Garcia Gomez started in 1959 after an inspired trip through Scotland. He chose Segovia in Spain to build the distillery because it reminded him of speyside, with its beautiful snaking river and abundant barley fields
🇪🇸
The whisky is made almost the same way as scotch whisky, double distilled in pot stills and usually aged in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 3 years
🇪🇸
It’s made like Scotch, it looks like scotch, it even tastes like scotch so why have you never heard of it?
I’ll tell you why, because even though DYC have 46% of the Spanish whisky market it still suffers under the mighty shadow of Scotch Whisky.
Even Spaniards would rather buy scotch than their native whisky
🇪🇸
Like so many international whiskies, DYC doesn’t capture the minds and hearts of drinkers both at home and abroad.
It lacks images of mighty stags and lush glens residing by crystal blue lochs
🇪🇸
The Australian whisky industry has done in 20 years what DYC couldn’t do in 60 years thanks to brands like and Melbourne’s own .
For that I feel very fortunate
🇪🇸
This 15 year old single malt may be the only bottle in Australia and for that reason it only feels right to pop the cork and share it with you. I’d be a bit of a hypocrite if I didn’t
🇪🇸
Hopefully you’ll soon see brands like this and many more in a bar near you

Happy World Scotch Day

July 27th is national scotch whisky day so grab your favourite SCOTTISH whisky and enjoy a dram. Whether it’s Islay, lowland or highland whisky, remember to pour a drink in honour of the amazing “uisge beatha”

Found a Wilderness Trail in the middle of suburbia
🥃
Wow, that read as bad as I thought it would.....😂
🥃
Seriously though, this single barrel pick by is just what the doctor ordered
🥃
A 5 year old Rye at a mouth watering 55.5% Abv, this whiskey is one of the most bourbon-ey ryes I've ever tasted.
Lots of caramel and oak with only a smidge of the grassy, spicy notes you usually find in rye's
🥃
A beauty of a whiskey with a profile that's "off the beaten track"....... I'll let myself out 😪

Pay attention Whisky Brands!!!
🥃
This is how you market your whisky…..
has been bombarding social media to spruik their new whiskies and I love the way they’ve done it
🥃
A huge advertising campaign using whisky bars, whisky “influencers” and official whisky publications has been running for the last month to get legitimate whisky drinkers on board and I reckon it’s worked
🥃
It definitely peaked my interest, and why wouldn’t it? has done a magnificent job making us believe Morris Whisky is must have whisky for every drinker
🥃
So to I say well done….. Between the very affordable price and the new partnership with I get the feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of you

That Boutique-y Whisky Co. Starward
🌌
Lockdown 5.0 means I get to take in places that would normally be swarming with people like this one I took at Parliament Station in the CBD
🌌
This Starward is part of the first ever Australian series and I fell in love with the label as soon as I saw it
🌌
Although its comes in at a healthy 56% Abv, it drinks relatively easy and has all the trademark flavours we've come to expect from Starward
🌌
All jokes aside, even after 18 months I still find it odd seeing empty city streets

Tomatin Verdejo Cask
🫒
Unlike most white wines, Verdejo wines get better with age..... literally aged in barrels
🫒
Aged exclusively in hogsheads that held the spanish wine has lead to this 11 year old Tomatin to being a deliciously creamy, peachy highland whisky
🫒
With time and a little air this whisky went from somewhat abrasive to very inviting and it drinks superbly at 46.8%
🫒
Kudos to Tomatin for this experimental cask and to The Whisky Club Australia for feeling confident enough in Austrailan punters to know we would love it

I'm missing warm whiskies on a cold night at Whisky and Alement, especially on this wintery Sunday night

This beautiful Blair Athol from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society is the perfect night cap after a great day in Melbourne Town

This is a VERY good bourbon......
🔥
Like, a VERY VERY good bourbon
🔥
If these tasting notes don't get your rocks off you're dead inside.....or you're a gin drinker 🤮
🔥
Sweet floral notes to begin with then undertones of vanilla icecream, cinnamon, and charcoal wood, ending in a warm, buttery milk chocolate finish that makes you wish it came out of the tap.
All that goodness at a very drinkable 58.5% Abv (117proof)
