🚨 BREAKING NEWS: VICTORIA INTRODUCES NEW SKILLED MIGRATION FEES!

📢 Major Update for Subclass 190 & 491 Applicants!

The Victorian Government has officially announced that fees will be introduced for Registration of Interest (ROI) and State Nomination applications under the 2026–27 Skilled Migration Program.

💰 NEW FEE STRUCTURE:

✅ Registration of Interest (ROI): $60 + GST ($66)

✅ Subclass 190 State Nomination: $180 + GST ($198)

✅ Subclass 491 State Nomination: $180 + GST ($198)

📌 WHAT APPLICANTS NEED TO KNOW:

🔹 GST applies if the applicant is in Australia at the time of payment.

🔹 Nomination fees are payable only after receiving an invitation and submitting a nomination application.

🔹 The ROI fee is charged only once per program year, even if you withdraw and resubmit your ROI within that year.

🔹 These fees are separate from Department of Home Affairs visa application charges.

🔹 Payment does not guarantee an invitation or successful nomination.

⚠️ IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR EXISTING ROI HOLDERS!

Applicants who submitted an ROI in a previous program year must submit a new ROI for 2026–27 when the program opens if they wish to be considered for Victorian nomination.

The Victorian Government has not yet announced the opening date for the 2026–27 program.

FACT: From 2 October 2026, most Student visa holders can no longer lodge a further Student visa application in Australia unless they meet an applicable exemption. Who Can Apply for an Australian Student Visa Onshore? 🇦🇺

New rules for student visas in Australia, effective 2 October 2026, impose further restrictions on the ability of international students to make onshore visa applications and bring dependent family members to Australia.

This instrument amends the 2022 rules to provide for the specific circumstances in which international students may be eligible to make an onshore student visa application or fall under the related family provisions.

What do the new amendments state?
The amendment introduces specified classes relating to:
● Doctoral students.
● Students who have been affected by educational provider default.
● Students who need to complete their studies.
● Students who need to progress to another course.
● Family members of government sponsored students.
● Eligible family members of doctoral students.
● Family members of students affected by educational provider default.
● Family members of students who need to complete their studies.

Australian Student Visa Offshore Rules 2026: Who Must Apply Offshore? 🇦🇺

Planning to study in Australia while already living there? The rules changed on the 2nd of October 2026. You may be affected depending on what Visa you currently hold.

From the 2nd of October 2026, the Australian Government put further restrictions on onshore student visa applications. The majority of applicants must apply for a student visa outside of Australia, unless they hold a particular visa and meet specific conditions.

This especially impacts graduate and other temporary visa holders who have planned to study in Australia by applying for a student visa while in Australia. This includes some temporary work (subclass 476 and 482), working holiday and visitor visa holders.

Australia Student Visa Changes from 2 October 2026 🇦🇺

New changes will affect how certain applicants can apply for Student visa (subclass 500), whether they can apply while in Australia, and whether they can include family members in their applications , from 2 October 2026.

What has changed in Australia’s Student visa rules?❓
The Australian government has unveiled new reforms to strengthen the integrity of the student visa system and reduce the misuse of temporary visas.

Reforms include:
● Restricting applicants in Australia to apply for a Student visa
● New conditions for certain applicants to be outside of Australia until their visa is granted.
