And now for something a little different ….
What's art got to do with it?
At the recent Best of the West event where Landcare facilitators, coordinators and sustainable agriculture facilitators from the Mallee, Wimmera and Glenelg Hopkins regions, came together for a two‑day networking and capacity‑building event, art was involved.
Art is a connecting medium for many people and one of the upskilling activities was native flora and fauna screen‑printing - something facilitators they can take back to their community events and connect people to local species.
The screen‑printing kits & artwork were designed by Kim and Brendan from The Forever Agenda in consultation with the group on species selection. Brendan is the artist behind the designs, which celebrate native flora and fauna.
Four of the designs feature species which have distribution across all three catchments including the Wax Lip Orchid, Red‑tailed Black Cockatoo, Satin Azure Butterfly and Sacred King Fisher, alongside region‑specific designs: Mallee Fowl for Mallee / Wimmera and the Powerful Owl for Glenelg Hopkins.
We’re looking forward to seeing how the crew use these kits to connect, educate and get creative together!
