And now for something a little different ….

What's art got to do with it?

At the recent Best of the West event where Landcare facilitators, coordinators and sustainable agriculture facilitators from the Mallee, Wimmera and Glenelg Hopkins regions, came together for a two‑day networking and capacity‑building event, art was involved.

Art is a connecting medium for many people and one of the upskilling activities was native flora and fauna screen‑printing - something facilitators they can take back to their community events and connect people to local species.

The screen‑printing kits & artwork were designed by Kim and Brendan from The Forever Agenda in consultation with the group on species selection. Brendan is the artist behind the designs, which celebrate native flora and fauna.

Four of the designs feature species which have distribution across all three catchments including the Wax Lip Orchid, Red‑tailed Black Cockatoo, Satin Azure Butterfly and Sacred King Fisher, alongside region‑specific designs: Mallee Fowl for Mallee / Wimmera and the Powerful Owl for Glenelg Hopkins.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the crew use these kits to connect, educate and get creative together!

We talk a lot about looking after the land, but what about the people doing the caring? Burnout is no good for our people, our communities and is certainly no good for our local landscapes and ecosystems and their sustainability and resilience.

Thrilled to be joining WA Landcare Network Inc and Jessie Panazzolo for a conversation about wellbeing in Landcare; how we can support ourselves and each other to keep showing up for the places we love.

Landcare and wellbeing ☀️

We all love what we do. The WA Landcare Network is proud to be made up of passionate people from all walks of life who care for our natural environment and all the unique species that reside within it.

Join WALN, Jessie Panazzolo and Kim Boswell as we discuss taking care of yourself in the landcare space. Landcarers give so much to their environment and their communities, and it's important to take care of yourself so that you can keep doing the incredible work you do!

This event is generously supported by the WA Government's State Natural Resource Management Program and the National Landcare Network.

I was named after the Kimberley and I’m in complete awe of this incredible landscape.

Last night the premiere of The Kimberley on ABC took my breath away and connected me right back to why i do what i do.

Grab a cuppa and settle in with this awe inspiring docuseries on ABC iview. Presented by, the fabulous, Mark Coles Smith it showcases the extraordinary landscapes of The Kimberley, the creatures that live there and the incredible cultural connection of the indigenous peoples who have called it home for more than 60,000 years. I cant wait for the next installmentent.

Bravo ABC!

What an honour it was to MC the Our Community, Our Environment conference in Portland on Saturday.

Congratulations to all the team SEA Landcare for hosting this smashing event with exceptional speakers and a packed house of incredible participants.

I left feeling armed with evidence and inspired by the energy in the room. There was absolutely some alarming climate change data and it was good to see that the giants of our environmental movement in Australia still hold optimism and hope and head about some great adaptation and mitigation work already happening across the South West of Victoria.

Special shout out to Lilja from Kapatola for her exceptional organising and project management skills in getting this event off the ground.

Tired of fighting outdated systems?

Instead of pushing against the old, let’s pour our energy into creating something fresh and innovative for the future of our organisation or community group. 🌱 New programs, new solutions, new opportunities to help people help the planet —it’s all ahead!

What a YEAR!!!…well, we’re not quite at the end yet, haha. But it has me reflecting on all of the magical moments that was the Forever Agenda in 2024!

It’s been a huge one with a load of travel and face time with the communities that I love, and I’m so very grateful for it all. It truly is such a privilege to do this work.

Here are some of my highlights:

Our annual Best of the West event this year in The Little Desert in Victoria, where 3 Victorian CMA regions gather for peer-to-peer learning.

Delivering 11 Landcare Governance sessions for committees of regional bodies across NSW for the Landcare Enabling Program.

Welcoming 35 new members into Community Leaders Academy, my absolute favourite group of people who are leading programs and doing great things for environmental volunteer-involved programs.

Delivering 13 Succession Planning workshops (both online and in-person) which has really helped me to get my finger on the pulse of where committees are struggling and to refine the model to deliver even more impact.

I’m so grateful I get to do what I do! And I’m so excited for everything that 2025 will bring 🫶
