Our 2024 Grenache from Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale, has received 96+ points from Halliday W**e Companion, recognition that reinforces our belief in the potential of exceptional Australian vineyards to produce distinctive fine w**es with a strong sense of place.

For E. J. McDougall, this Grenache is part of a broader vision: to create Australian fine w**es defined by provenance, thoughtful craftsmanship and lasting character.

We are particularly proud of this vintage and its place within our McLaren Vale story.

There is also genuine scarcity. Our entire 2023 Grenache allocation has now been secured, and the 2024 vintage is available only in limited quantities.

What makes a Margaret River Chardonnay distinctive? Sometimes, it begins with the vine.

For E. J. McDougall, Gin Gin Chardonnay is a defining component of the Margaret River Chardonnay style.

Known for producing fruit with considerable power, intensity and structure, Gin Gin is also recognised for its distinctive “hen and chicken” bunches,where small and large berries develop together.

This natural variation can contribute to the balance of acidity, concentration and richness that gives the w**e both presence and ageing potential.

Alongside Gin Gin, E. J. McDougall works with other Chardonnay clones, including Clone 95, Mendoza and smaller plantings of P58, each contributing its own character and complexity.

A new season is beginning in Margaret River.

Eddie has been in Margaret River this week, taking in the first signs of Spring across the vineyards.

Chardonnay is already beginning to burst from dormancy, with healthy shoots and plenty of light and warmth ahead. While a little more rain would certainly be welcome, the conditions are looking positive for the days ahead.

As Eddie puts it: “Very happy.”
