People are sometimes surprised when they learn what I do. Matchmaking sounds like something from another era, or a reality show not a real job that a real person chooses on purpose.

So I want to tell you how I came to it, because the why explains everything about how Love with Me works.

I know the long wait, because I lived it
The honest answer is that I became a matchmaker because I was single for a long time long enough to understand, from the inside, exactly how it feels to want to find someone and watch the years go by without them arriving.

I know what it’s like to turn over stone after stone after stone. The dates that go nowhere. The promising ones that quietly evaporate. The friends who pair off while you’re still looking, and the well-meaning people who tell you it’ll happen when you stop trying as if wanting love were the thing standing in its way. I know the particular tiredness of getting ready for another first date you already suspect won’t lead anywhere, and the small, creeping fear that maybe it just isn’t going to happen for you.

I’m not writing that for sympathy. I’m writing it because it’s the entire foundation of how I work. Everything I understand about this, I learned the slow way by living it.

I caught Life Matters on ABC Radio National ABC Radio National this morning and loved hearing Dating Gayle | The Dating Experiment share her dating journey with Tegan Taylor, alongside Dr Lisa Portolan, who researches intimacy and dating apps.

I even jumped on the talkback line to add my two cents as a matchmaker, so listen closely and you might hear a familiar voice.

My favourite moment? Gayle's tip for meeting someone beyond the apps: donate blood.

It sounds unexpected, but it's exactly the kind of advice I share with my own clients. The best connections rarely happen while you're swiping on the couch. They happen when you're out in the world doing something that matters to you, whether that's volunteering, joining a walking group, or rolling up your sleeve at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

Think about who you'd meet there. People who show up. People who give. And even if you don't meet anyone at all, you've spent your morning doing something genuinely good. That's a win either way.

Hearing someone document their dating journey this honestly, nerves and all, is such a gift to every single person quietly wondering if it's just them. It isn't. If the apps are wearing you down, consider this your sign to log off and get out into the world.

I absolutely love this post from Grayson McIvor

We honestly do not talk about this enough.

So many men and women feel exactly the same way:
Lonely.
Craving connection.
Thinking, am I ever going to meet my person? Am I going to be a Dad?
Is there something wrong with me?

Here is the truth. You can absolutely love your life and still crave the connection that only a relationship brings.

This is exactly why I created Love with Me.

If you feel this way, please know you are not alone.

My inbox is always open if you want to talk.

It’s Men’s Health Week and this one’s for the men.

We talk plenty about the heart in the literal sense: blood pressure, cholesterol, the numbers. But health includes your heart in every sense including the part of you that wants connection.

So here’s something I wish more men heard:
It’s okay to want a partner.
It’s okay to ask a professional to help you find one.
And it’s okay to be vulnerable about it.

So many men already have quietly, privately, and with more courage than they give themselves credit for.

Brave enough to want it. Smart enough to ask.

Being open about what you’re looking for isn’t weakness. It might be one of the healthiest things you ever do.
I don’t judge. I simply do one thing, and do it well: introduce you thoughtfully, and with real care to someone who could be right for you.
If this has been sitting on your mind, consider it your sign.

The oldest way of finding love is suddenly the most modern. Here's why.

There's a particular kind of tiredness I hear about almost every week now. It isn't the tiredness of a long day. It's the tiredness of trying. Of opening an app at 11pm, thumb moving on its own, evaluating face after face after face, and feeling somehow lonelier at the end of it than at the start.

If that's familiar, you're not doing anything wrong. And you're far from alone.

What I Tell Every Single Person Who Comes to Me

Perfect doesn’t exist. Stop looking for it. Look for someone whose values align with yours, who makes you feel safe, who shows up. That’s the person worth choosing.

Your hesitation is normal. Re-entering the dating world after heartbreak, divorce, or loss is genuinely scary. You’re allowed to feel terrified and do it anyway.

Wanting love is not a weakness. It is one of the most fundamental human needs there is. You don’t need to apologise for it, hide it, or pretend you’re fine without it.

Give it time. Real connection doesn’t always happen immediately. Sometimes the person who changes your life is someone you had to warm up to. Stay open.

And finally — the one that took me the longest to learn:
You haven’t missed your chance. Not at any age. Not after any heartbreak. Love is not something that runs out.

We all know great men who are kind, genuine, successful, and loyal… but when it comes to dating, they may just need a little guidance.

Not because there is something wrong with them. But because modern dating can be confusing, exhausting, and surprisingly hard to navigate.

Many good men are busy building careers, supporting friends and family, and doing life — yet still struggle to meet the right person in a meaningful way.

That is where matchmaking comes in.
A personalised approach. Honest conversations. Real introductions. Support along the way.

Sometimes the right man simply needs the right environment to meet the right woman.

Mention Love with Me to a great bloke who deserves love.
