I caught Life Matters on ABC Radio National ABC Radio National this morning and loved hearing Dating Gayle | The Dating Experiment share her dating journey with Tegan Taylor, alongside Dr Lisa Portolan, who researches intimacy and dating apps.
I even jumped on the talkback line to add my two cents as a matchmaker, so listen closely and you might hear a familiar voice.
My favourite moment? Gayle's tip for meeting someone beyond the apps: donate blood.
It sounds unexpected, but it's exactly the kind of advice I share with my own clients. The best connections rarely happen while you're swiping on the couch. They happen when you're out in the world doing something that matters to you, whether that's volunteering, joining a walking group, or rolling up your sleeve at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood
Think about who you'd meet there. People who show up. People who give. And even if you don't meet anyone at all, you've spent your morning doing something genuinely good. That's a win either way.
Hearing someone document their dating journey this honestly, nerves and all, is such a gift to every single person quietly wondering if it's just them. It isn't. If the apps are wearing you down, consider this your sign to log off and get out into the world.
