Some achievements deserve more than a fleeting moment šŸ’«
We’re proud to celebrate Good Neighbours co-founder Judi Carr, recipient of the 2025 Raymond J. Peck Award.

For decades, Judi has quietly reshaped how the property industry thinks about sales, marketing + community. Always starting with the people.

Through , her work has influenced some of Australia’s most significant masterplanned communities. But her greatest impact is less visible. Higher standards. Brave conversation. Places that feel more human because of the decisions made upstream.

Judi’s leadership also extends well beyond her professional work. Through years of mentoring with UDIA Victoria, advocacy for women in property, and her commitment to lifting engagement standards across the sector, she has helped shape the next generation of industry leaders.

We’re proud, grateful, and not at all surprised.
Congratulations Judi.

This week’s Star Weekly coverage reflects findings from independent community research led by the Good Neighbours Movement across Melbourne’s western growth suburbs.

Listening to more than 800 residents, we heard a consistent theme: pride in place, alongside frustration where infrastructure, safety and transport lag behind growth.

Research like this isn’t about promotion. It’s about making lived experience visible, and helping lift the standard of how communities are planned, supported and stewarded over time.

Thanks to the residents who shared their voices, and to partners who backed transparent, evidence-led work.

We’re building momentum for a Greenfields Reference Group – a place where all stakeholders sit at the same table to co-create solutions for liveable suburbs.

Watch this space as we take this conversation from workshops to action šŸ‘€

Good communities don’t happen by chance – they’re co-created.

Residents set the tone, developers deliver infrastructure, councils provide facilities, and governments fund major services.

When voices are fragmented, gaps appear. When they’re aligned, suburbs thrive.

Take the Good Neighbours survey and help lay the foundation for neighbourhoods that are truly connected, liveable, and built to last.

ā€œWhen we build communities, let’s start by asking the people who actually live in them.ā€

That’s the simple, powerful idea behind Good Neighbours.

have done deep work on what better can look like - a swimmable Yarra, more resilient food systems and the ā€˜Melbourne doughnut’ exploring doughnut economics (yup, it’s a thing!) to support a more safe and just city. Nourished Neighbourhoods is their latest ā€˜earthshot’ - a wildly ambitious, whole of city approach to better serve us all. This quote resonated with me - what do you think?

In 10 years, Melbourne’s growth areas can be places people are proud to call home – with transport, schools, and services arriving on time, and communities built on safety, inclusion, and shared responsibility.

That’s the Good Neighbours vision ✨

OzHarvest & other food rescue & relief organisations play such an important role, solving for produce that might be in broken packaging, close to best before dates etc (and perfectly ok to eat) and distributing huge quantities to local charities and community orgs. Awesome to see behind the scenes and connect with community at yet another layer šŸ’›

Our research shows the biggest stress for families in new suburbs isn’t buying the home – it’s the uncertainty around transport and infrastructure.

Families want to know their streets will become real communities, not just rows of houses.

One key takeaway from our recent workshops: residents are eager for opportunities to connect – whether through events, well-designed public spaces, or simply knowing their neighbours.

Connection isn’t just nice to have – it’s essential for safe, resilient communities.
