CONGRATULATIONS to our Australian Open Champion Ian Cormick!

Ian successfully piloted through the sealed portion of the event to then compete with an Esper Pixie Standard deck throughout the standard format rounds. The Grand Final was a nail biter against our runner up Jose Gabriel Hilario going 3 rounds.

The winner of the 6th annual Faction Invitational Championship is Kynan Pell. In a dominant calendar year which has seen him win both Faction major championships, Kynan has now become the first 3-time major winner. In a nail-biting final played against the naturally gifted Rob Versluis, Kynan successfully piloted grixis in 3 games of 7PH to take home the trophy and prizes.

The weekend set in the beautiful rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula winery country was everything to be expected of the legendary weekend. It was celebrated with some of the most loved and respected names throughout the community. With all the festivities and celebrating known for this event, it was punctuated by some truly incredible meals produced by our very own community members.

A huge thank you to our extended community for making this one of the most unique and memorable events on the Australian calendar.

And of course the main event. An epic 7ph and booster draft tournament with some of the best prizes you will see all year to crown another Faction major champion.

The winner of the 5th annual Faction Invitational Championship is Isaac Lee! In an unprecedented weekend of dominance, Isaac remained undefeated through 10 rounds of 7PH and booster draft to win against a field with some of the toughest players throughout the community. In the largest Faction Championship event to date, Isaac was able to best 28 players and win a thrilling final against a typically brave Alec Ferguson. The legendary name becoming the 9th Faction major championship winner in 10 tournaments.

It was also another unprecedented weekend of prizes with multiple Dual Lands in the thousands of dollars worth of cards and products on offer. A huge thank you once again to Plenty of Games for all your support and to the generosity of each and every attendee.

In undoubtedly the greatest weekend in The Faction history, the weekend truly had it all. From all of Chef Fabian’s restaurant quality meals and accompanying drinks, to Saher’s spectacular work on the DJ decks through to all the greatest hits of activities that make The Faction weekends so unique, memorable and fun.

All 30 attendees brought an enthusiasm and energy that makes these events incomparable to anything else on the calendar. A massive thank you to everyone attending, for your passion in sharing this vision of what events can be. There really is no ceiling on them if you have the right people within your community. We know that these will only get bigger and better each year.

How are we going to improve on this in 2025? You will have to wait and see!

Congratulations to one of The Faction’s favourite sons in Leonard, who a couple of weeks ago achieved a MTG goal 25 years in the making and qualified for his first Pro Tour. Ever one to celebrate the successes of his teammates and peers throughout the community, Leo achieved what he had threatened to do on many occasions and now will be playing at Pro Tour Chicago next year.

We are tremendously proud of him. Well done mate!

Less than 72 hours till the biggest event ever on The Faction calendar. One entire weekend of activities that will make you rethink what an event should have.

A winery lunch, a beach party on the Mornington Peninsula and then live music and a DJ set. And that’s just Friday alone!

The special announcements don’t end there. For the weekend, Chef Fabian will be our full time caterer, cooking up a delectable and inspired menu for our 30 guests.

And of course the prestigious 5th annual Faction Invitational major championship. Booster draft and 7ph Highlander with the promise of some of the best prizes of any event in the Australian calendar.

Doesn’t get any better than this!

Congratulations to The Faction’s Joel Gibbons who came an incredible 12th in yesterday’s Flesh and Blood World Championships in Osaka.

It comes just weeks after qualifying for yet another Flesh and Blood Pro Tour!

Congratulations to The Faction’s Jonathan Asquith for achieving his dream to qualify for the upcoming Flesh and Blood Pro Tour in London! He now follows his best friend and fellow Faction member Joel Gibbons in competing at the highest level.

Joel on the back of some incredible results, will soon be competing in the Flesh and Blood World Championships next month in Osaka, Japan.
