1 year ago today! That year has gone so fast! Mid March I had my first quarterly check up at Box Hill Hosp and that biopsy came back positive for Cervical cancer again. Absolutely heart breaking news to receive and I couldn't bring myself to tell my girls as they had just lost their Pop. Back and forth to appointmentsand more tests every few weeks for 3 months until my June appointment at Olivia Newton John where I did all of my treatment (every 3 months is alternating between both hospitals). There I saw the beautiful Dr Carminia who was a part of my journey from the start and did all of my Brachytherapy treatment. She had received no info about me from Box Hill and after a teary convo of telling her how the cancer was back she was both shocked and angry! Turns out that if you have radiation, it gives a false positive...basically Box Hill shouldn't have tested me that way. She sent me off that day with meds to take daily for 6 weeks before returning to get checked for a definite cancer free diagnosis. For 4 and a half months I lived with the devastating news that my cancer had returned and still had to work, adult, mother and function as normal as I could while processing my future to have it flipped on its head thanks to one amazing lady! The word grateful just doesn't cut it but I consider myself so bloody lucky to still be cancer free a year after finishing my treatment. So thankful for the endless support from friends, family and work ❤️ 👊
