Every year, World Environment Day lands and the conversation gets louder. The businesses quietly ahead of it are the ones who never stopped asking where their waste goes.

Cable recovered is material back in the supply chain. That's worth marking. 🌏

Mining new copper means land clearing, water use, and energy at scale.

Recovering copper from cable waste already above ground doesn’t.

Every tonne recycled locally is a tonne that stays in the ground.

If any of these sound familiar, you already know the answer.

JR Hammer processes all cable types - contaminated, mixed, burnt - at 90%+ recovery. If your current recycler can’t say the same, that’s a conversation worth having.

You drop the cable off. Then what?

Most contractors assume recycled means recycled. It doesn’t always. Our latest blog breaks down what actually happens after collection - where the material goes, what percentage gets recovered, and why not all recycling looks the same.

If you’ve never asked your recycler for a recovery rate, this is worth a read: https://shorturl.at/PYCyY

Cable in. Copper and PVC out.

JR Hammer collects your cable waste, or you can drop it directly at our Thomastown facility. From there, it goes through our granulator: shredded, separated, processed at 90%+ recovery. Copper goes back to manufacturers. PVC goes to downstream remanufacturers.

When cable waste gets exported as low-grade scrap, a few things happen. Recovery rates drop. Traceability disappears. The value of that material - copper, aluminium, PVC - leaves the country.

JR Hammer processes locally. Every load tracked, every material accounted for, recovery rates you can put in a tender document.

Ask your current recycler where it goes. If they can't tell you, we can.

Burnt cable. Concrete-coated sheathing. Mixed loads. Joining boxes still attached.

Most recyclers knock it back or charge you extra to deal with it. We process all of it - same recovery rate, no drama.

If you've been told your cable waste isn't recyclable, get a second opinion.
