Testing DC Power Supply & Battery Charger’s!
⚡️⚡️⚡️

Examples:
DC Supply - Laptop or phone chargers
Battery Charger - Battery powered tools

🔌 DC Power Supplies are often considered a Class 2 appliance due to the layer of plastic covering the unit, working as a double insulated appliance.

🔌 When testing battery chargers, it is recommended to use a conductive mesh cloak for when testing. The cloak works to support the Current Leakage Test.

Class II testing! ✌🏼

These indicators can help identify Class II appliances:

❗️Class II appliances often have a plastic case, as plastic provides an additional insulation layer.

❗️Double Box symbol: Many Class II appliances feature a symbol on the rating plate that resembles two squares, one inside the other. This symbol signifies that the appliance is Class II or Double Insulated 🔲

❗️Does not require an earth connection 🌏

❗️Class II appliances usually have 2 pins on the Plug 🔌

New Blog Alert 💥

In the state of Victoria, the Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760:2022, stipulates one must be deemed a ‘Competent Person’ to be able to perform electrical safety testing on portable electrical appliances on behalf of an employer or for their own business👷🏼‍♂️👷‍♀️

This also goes for TAS, SA, WA, NSW and the NT ✅

However! 🛑 This does not satisfy the regulations set in place by the Queensland government. If you are living in Queensland and thinking of testing and tagging, there are some extra steps you might need to take in order to be compliant.
