Oran Park Leisure Centre was envisioned as a major new community destination, active, inclusive and easy to navigate. Engaged by architects Warren and Mahoney for Camden Council, we designed a comprehensive place identity and wayfinding system that integrates seamlessly with the architecture and interiors.

The visual language draws directly from the activities within, referencing court lines, pool lanes and the energy of sport and movement, to create signage and graphics that feel dynamic yet highly legible at scale. From bold external identification to intuitive internal navigation, the system supports clear journeys and a consistent experience from arrival through to every destination inside the centre.

As part of Melbourne Park's ongoing transformation and its visitor experience, the introduction of two large‑format digital totems positioned at key arrival points to Kia Arena was designed to elevate wayfinding, enhance brand presence, and create a more connected, responsive environment for patrons attending world‑class events.

Designed by NH Architecture, Diadem was engaged by Lendlease to document for construction and engineering and deliver these impressive digital totems. A powerful, modern communication platform, each 9‑metre triangular totem features integrated LED and LCD screens that serve as dynamic beacons, broadcasting live updates, schedule information, branding, and wayfinding cues. Premium materials and a sleek, monument‑toned finish ensure the structures complement the precinct’s architectural identity.

Melbourne Park welcomes millions of visitors each year, many of whom are navigating the precinct for the first time. Traditional static signage was no longer sufficient to guide diverse crowds, provide real‑time updates, or support the growing demand for richer digital engagement.

Together, these totems redefine the arrival experience, transforming the delivery of essential information into a visually striking, intelligent, and future‑ready moment of engagement for every guest entering Melbourne Park.

Lorne Street Student Accommodation is a purpose‑built, 18‑storey student living development located in Auckland CBD. The project brings new life to a significant heritage site, integrating a retained historic façade into a contemporary residential environment.

The development comprises 758 student apartments, supported by shared amenities and commercial spaces, and is designed to foster connection, comfort and a strong sense of community for a diverse, international resident population.

Diadem was engaged to develop a site‑wide wayfinding strategy and design and deliver a comprehensive signage suite. Central to the project was the creation of a legible, welcoming environment that balances modern student living with the site’s rich and layered history.

The design is inspired by the building’s internal and external architectural finishes, ensuring signage feels integrated and inherent to the environment. Warm, exposed timber and muted colour tones are used throughout the internal signage suite, allowing the natural timber texture to remain visible and reinforcing a home‑like, residential atmosphere.

Cultural layering was incorporated into both numerical references and te reo Māori, providing international residents with an accessible introduction to local language while maintaining clarity and ease of navigation.

By delivering a coordinated design‑and‑delivery approach, Diadem maintained design intent throughout the project while reducing time, cost and complexity for the client.

Last week, we took a select group of clients on a walk around Melbourne for Look Up — a guided walking tour exploring the city's skyline through the eyes of the people who helped shape it.

Sky signs. City-defining projects. The stories, challenges, and creative decisions behind some of Melbourne's most recognisable landmarks, told by the people who made them.

There's something special about getting out from behind a desk, looking up, and seeing the city differently. We're proud to share what we do and why we love it, and even prouder when clients leave feeling the same way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Already looking forward to the next one.

A successful sky sign demands far more than visual impact; it requires navigating complexity, risk and engineering at the highest level.

For its architecturally iconic Hong Kong headquarters, HSBC sought to transform its sky sign into a high‑resolution LED digital display. Positioned at the very top of the tower, the two 4.16‑metre‑high by 22.08‑metre‑wide screens deliver the flexibility to showcase brand identities and dynamic marketing content at skyline scale.

We carefully scale and engineer each sky sign to optimise viewing distance, legibility, brand integrity, and long-term performance, ensuring an enduring presence on the city skyline.

Diadem is renowned for delivering landmark sky signs for leading global brands. Designing and installing sky signs at this scale presents considerable challenges, including wind loading, safety, long-term durability, and brand integrity.

We're proud to have played our part in bringing New Zealand's largest convention venue to life. The New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), or Te Tumu – "the foundation from which growth begins" is a landmark venue worthy of its name, and the wayfinding signage needed to support this notion.

Engaged to develop Buro North's signage concept design, our project team successfully interpreted their vision and translated it into prototypes and production drawings that met the necessary performance requirements, while managing production costs within the project budget. To do this, it was necessary to work closely with the wider NZICC team to ensure the final outcome would literally fit the architecture. This required lots of on-site problem-solving throughout the construction phase. Despite the infamous building fire, which disrupted the project program, we were able to pick up the complex implementation program and meet the new timeframe.

The numbers tell part of the story: 2,067 signs across 14 levels, 32,500 sqm of event floor area, and a venue that can host everything from an intimate 20-person meeting to a 4,500-person event. But what we're most proud of is the result — signage that fits seamlessly into the architecture, is deeply rooted in Māori culture, and is part of New Zealand's identity.

A world-class outcome for a truly landmark venue.

“When women thrive, we all rise.”

International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise the impact women make, in our workplaces, our communities and across the industries we help shape.
At diadem women hold an equal standing in shaping how we think, design, and collaborate. Across our offices, they offer leadership, creativity and perspective to projects that are ultimately about people.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, reminds us that progress happens when we choose to actively support one another. When we offer respect, opportunity and equity, we produce stronger teams, better ideas and a more inclusive industry.

We recognise that meaningful progress comes from listening, learning and continuing to support the women around us.
Today, we celebrate the women of Diadem for their talent, their hard work and the energy they bring to our work every day.
Because supporting women isn’t just the right thing to do, it strengthens the way we work, the spaces we create and the future we’re building together.

Happy International Women’s Day! 💜💪

.Step inside RMIT UP and experience a campus transformed! Diadem’s bold environmental graphics, sprawling across nine levels, fuse RMIT’s creative spirit with student talent and innovation. From vibrant arrival moments to a visually stunning Innovation Garden, where even the glazing safety strips become organic design statements, every space is a canvas.

Our wayfinding system doesn’t just guide, it inspires: clear signage, custom room icons, and a directory with dynamic colour treatments all work together to make navigation effortless and intuitive.

Diadem curated and merged complementary art pieces, which were adapted to the building’s interior palettes with the artists’ endorsement, to create a truly unique environment where every detail tells a story of creativity and inclusion.

This is what happens when design, innovation, and student participation collide.

A big thanks to all the artists who participated:

Get ready for the spectacle of the year! On Sunday, 8 March 2026, we’ll be taking the plunge at Melbourne's legendary Birdman Rally – and we need your help to make it count.

This is Diadem's 10th flight (or should I say, 10th splash?) and Lisa's maiden voyage as Madame Butterfly. We'll be soaring – or more likely, spectacularly belly-flopping – across the Yarra, all in the name of charity.

We're raising funds for the Property Industry Foundation (PIF), an incredible organisation that builds safe homes for young people experiencing homelessness. Every year, 46,000 young Australians aged 15-24 ask for help, and half are turned away due to a lack of beds. PIF creates tangible solutions by constructing homes where vulnerable youth can rebuild their lives with dignity and support.

Your donation will help provide:

* Safe, secure housing for young people experiencing homelessness

* A foundation for youth to rebuild their lives and futures

* Hope for some of Australia's most vulnerable young people

Whether we fly or flop (let's be honest, it'll be the latter), your support will help young people take flight in their own lives.

Please donate today and leave us a message of encouragement! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly to PIF through this secure platform.

Thanks for helping us make a splash for a great cause!
