A safe place. A meal. A friendly furry face.

This year’s Jemena Community Grant recipients are delivering projects that will make a practical difference for people across NSW and Victoria, from meals and fresh food support to patient transport, safety education, youth programs, pet therapy and specialist support for children and families.

These local organisations are doing practical work that really makes a huge difference in the communities where we operate, and we’re pleased to support them through the 2026 Jemena Community Grants Program.

Congratulations to 300 Blankets, Chester Hill Neighbourhood Centre Inc, Coolamon Central School P&C Association, Doggie Dates, Elizabeth Morgan House Aboriginal Women's Service Inc Flourish Australia, Griffith Meals on Wheels and Hampers of Hope, KIDS Foundation, Mercy Works, Nourish Nation, Recycle to Revive, Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria, Survivor's R Us Incorporated, West Welcome Wagon and Wombat's Wish.

Big cheers for Jenna getting her colleagues on board for our Push-Up Challenge team. They got moving, got talking and raised much-needed funds for the Push For Better Foundation, which supports mental health services and research.

Jenna started doing the challenge on her own six years ago. These days, she is helping bring colleagues together in the Jemena Electricity Network Control Room, with the team encouraging each other through the daily challenge.

This year, the team raised $1,715. We were so pleased to match that amount through our Community Program, bringing the total to $3,430.

Nice one Jenna, and thanks to everyone who both got stronger and raised funds!

“We heard a story of someone who did not know they could negotiate a better plan with their energy provider, after the workshop they called their provider and managed to cut their energy bills in half.”

This is one of the stories shared by Gabby from Sydney Community Forum about the Voices for Power – Energy Literacy Train-the-Trainer program designed to help culturally and linguistically diverse energy customers across Greater Sydney better understand their bills.

When people move to Australia, they are often coming from countries with different energy systems. Learning how to better understand their energy bills directly from a trusted community member can have a big impact.

Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese are just some of the languages energy literacy workshops have been delivered in so far this year.

The Voices for Power – Energy Literacy Train-the-Trainer program is a joint initiative between Jemena, Endeavour Energy and Sydney Community Forum.

In this role, you'll work across our gas and electricity networks, supporting the governance and compliance frameworks that help ensure we continue to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable energy to the communities we serve. You'll be part of a collaborative team, working with stakeholders across the business to monitor regulatory obligations, support compliance reporting, and help embed strong compliance practices across our operations.

What are we looking for?
✅ 2-3 years' experience in compliance, governance, risk or regulatory roles
✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
✅ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
✅ Qualifications in Business, Commerce, Economics, Law or a related discipline

Keeping electricity affordable and reliable while transitioning to a low carbon energy system was a key topic at our Retailer and Electricity Large Users Forum in Melbourne last week.

A big thanks to the more than 90 attendees who joined us to hear our Managing Director David Gillespie speak about Jemena’s response to the changing energy landscape and how we’re evolving for the future. Our team also spoke about our network strategies and how we’re delivering for our customers.

This annual forum is an important opportunity to connect with energy retailers and our large electricity customers to share updates and answer their questions.

If you’ve ever enjoyed the food, music and colour of Melbourne’s African Music and Cultural Festival, you might be interested to know one of the people helping make it happen is Qiniso from our Digital Gas Markets team.

When he’s not analysing data at Jemena, Qiniso volunteers as President of Africa Day Australia and helps deliver the Festival, bringing people together to celebrate African culture through music, film, food and community.

For Qiniso, who first came to Australia from Zimbabwe to study, volunteering is about sharing culture, building connections and giving back.

He says: “Connecting with different people and cultures is one of the things I enjoy most.”

How many push-ups can you do?

Over 24 days, our Melbourne control room team completed a collective 19,899 push-ups. This incredible effort was not just to keep fit, it was also for a good cause!

This is the sixth year in a row the team have participated in The Push Up Challenge - aptly naming themselves the ‘The Power Pushers’ – which is Australia’s largest mental health and fitness event.

Participants aim to complete either 3,307 push-ups or a half target of 1,654, with the full number representing the lives lost to su***de in Australia in 2024.

Dispatch and Control Officer, Jenna, said the challenge is about more than just fitness.

“Mental health is such an important topic, and The Push-Up Challenge gives us a way to connect as a team, stay active and start meaningful conversations. We’re proud to have taken part again this year and to play a small role in raising awareness and support for mental health in Australia,” said Jenna.

This year the team raised $1,715 with Jemena dollar-matching that amount to bring the total to $3,430 which will go directly to Lifeline to continue providing vital support to those in need.

Great to see our Renewable Gas team at the National Renewables in Agriculture Conference in Orange, connecting with industry leaders, farmers and innovators to explore the role renewable gas can play in Australia's energy future.
