We're looking for a full time licensed GA Mechanical Engineer to join our team. We have a great reputation across the GA Sector - the work is varied and interesting with no two days ever the same!
Ideally, the applicant should have sound GA experience and can be either licensed or an AME who has achieved or close to achieving a Cert IV Aeroskills and looking to progress to being licensed; a modular license pathway would also be considered. Remuneration negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.
As well as your aircraft maintenance qualifications, the following are essential:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Security Identification Card (ASIC);
• Current driver's licence;
• Demonstrated ability to use initiative to problem solve;
• Pro-active and positive attitude;
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and the ability to work unsupervised;
• Strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail;
• Commitment to comply with company policies and procedures;
• Physically able to fulfil the inherent requirements of the role.

We are a small team, so you can look forward to working in a friendly, supportive environment in a well equipped, purpose built hangar. Usual business hours are Monday to Friday, leaving plenty of room for a great lifestyle in a fantastic location.

If you’re ready for a sea change and a work life that is interesting and varied, please get in touch. Send your application and resume to [email protected], or if you need further details, contact Chief Engineer Rex on 0408 138 409.

Feel free to share this post or if you know of anyone who fits the bill, please put them in touch with us.

BREAKING NEWS:
We have absolutely fantastic news to share! Our tenure at the airport was on the Council agenda yesterday (again) .... we had the opportunity to present to Council and when the time came to consider the motion, Mitch Nadin put up an alternative ... for MAM to stay in our current hangar AND be provided with a 20 year lease. We are over the moon to confirm that 7 of the 9 elected Councillors voted in favour ... so it's official ... MERIMBULA AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE IS STAYING WHERE WE ARE WITH A 20 YEAR LEASE! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
We are so, so grateful for all the encouragement & support we've received as we've battled this issue over the past 5 years. From the messages of support, signing our petition, writing letters, making submissions and presenting to Council.... it's ALL made a difference and helped us get to this fantastic outcome. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being there for us and with us!
Special thanks to Mitchell Nadin & David Porter for your advocacy and for fulfilling your election promise to bring this issue back to the new Council. And thank you to the other Councillors who supported the motion - Helen O'Neill, Peggy Noble, Simon Daly - Labor Councillor - Bega Valley Shire Council, Peter Haggar and Claire Mudaliar ... your decision yesterday is so appreciated - not only by us, but all who have an interest in General Aviation in Merimbula. At last ... common sense prevails!

Celebrating 30 years in business today 🎉 Congratulations Rex Koerbin .... when you came home announcing that you'd found a business to buy I was a bit doubtful ... but when you sold your motorbike and yacht to make it happen I knew you were serious! We made the move to Merimbula with our two little toddlers ... and what a wonderful adventure it's been for all of us. There's been heartache (don't mention the Council!) but so many wonderful opportunities and friendships. It's amazing that both our girls are now working in aviation - so proud of them both ... but I can't quite get my head around Hanna Koerbin now being the same age I was when we bought the business ... half my lifetime ago! No-one knows what the future will bring ... hoping MAM survives the current Council shenanigans ... but whatever comes we'll make it work - partners always 🥰

BVSC elections are upon us. If you signed our petition asking Council to reject the Merimbula Airport Master Plan, here's another chance to have your voice heard. When we presented our petition with over 4,500 signatures the sitting Council ignored the voice of the people and voted to pass the Master Plan - to the detriment of General Aviation and aircraft maintenance at the airport - all voted to pass the Plan except Councillors Porter & Nadin. They were the only 2 who heeded the data, listened to the evidence and took notice of the 4,500 strong voice of the people. They stood by the evidence and rejected the Airport Master Plan. Now's the time for change at Council - vote for Porter or Nadin to be our new Mayor and Group A Independents for Council. This group have committed to revisit our issues of concern with the Airport Master Plan if elected.

12/06/2024

Big news ... despite all the rational evidence & 4560 signatures petitioning against the proposed Merimbula Airport Master Plan 2043, Bega Valley Shire Council voted yesterday to accept the Plan.

The decision speaks volumes about the ethics of Council staff and the Councillors who voted to ignore the evidence presented to them about the flawed data informing the design of the plan, the feedback from the aviation sector and broader community, and the practical solutions tabled that would improve the design and enable MAM to remain at it's current site.

We will be holding Council to account on their statements in the meeting about the plan being 'fluid' and able to be amended - not set in stone. But it leaves us in a very difficult situation with no security about our future and the future of aircraft maintenance at the airport.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us to date ... and there's so many of you - it's been mindblowing! Your support has meant so much. Please be assured that for now it's business as usual at the hangar... the fight is not quite done yet. Council elections are coming up in September - we'll definitely be lobbying for big changes!

Well ... we have a stay of ex*****on with a decision made at yesterdays Council meeting to approve a 1 - 3 year extension on our lease while the new GA precinct gets sorted ... AND ... the CEO was given the go ahead to work with us on future options. Still lots of uncertainty about our future, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
Many thanks to Peter Davis for speaking on our behalf, and to family, friends and customers who came along or linked in online to show their support. Thanks also to the Councillors who have taken an active interest in this issue and voted in our favour yesterday - the level of community support we have behind us was noted by Councillors, and we know a strong collective voice makes a big difference.
The next hurdle is the draft Airport Master Plan - a huge, huge thanks to the 3,800 people who have now signed our petition and to those who took the time to review the plan and submit feedback to Council. Provisions for GA are sadly lacking in the draft plan, and there is lots of work ahead to secure a better future for GA at Merimbula Airport.

19/03/2024

Rex and Lynne are both speaking with Council today about motions on the table that will potentially impact on our future at the airport - midday at the Councils public forum ... and then Council meets at 2pm to make their decisions.
Please feel welcome to come along and show your support at midday - Council meets at the Civic Centre in Bega.

Very proud to say that Laura began her aviation career at Merimbula Airport. Flight training at regional airports like Merimbula play an essential role in preparing pilot's for a career in aviation ... RFDS, Air Ambulance, Defence Services, airlines, charter work, Polair, agriculture, fire services, and tourism. Our locals need the opportunities to stay local. One of the many reasons we need to support general aviation at Merimbula Airport.

We're proud of the valuable contributions made by the women on our aviation team! ✈️

To celebrate Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, we asked RFDS Pilots Ellie, Jess, Laura, Heather and Kellie what their job means to them. 🫶
