We picked our Shiraz today for our sparkling rosé, and this year’s fruit is extraordinary. Perfectly formed bunches, berries even in size and colour, and the flavour is intense and utterly delicious.

This doesn’t happen by accident. Months of careful canopy management have ensured the sun reaches every berry evenly, so the entire crop ripens together in perfect unison. Today is the culmination of all that work.

And we pick it all by hand. Slowly. Deliberately. Meticulously. Every single bunch is inspected before it goes into the bin. If it isn’t perfect, it doesn’t make the cut. You can see it in these photos: each bunch examined, only the finest fruit carefully tipped into the bin. No rushing, no compromise.

All great wine is made in the vineyard and honoured in the winery.

The 2026 Coward & Black sparkling rosé is going to be utterly remarkable.
