I hope you are all staying safe and warm.
With all the extreme weather lately. Thought I'd put a reminder for pet owners.

Heavy rain and high winds could pose a threat to all animals and we’re urging pet owners in areas predicted to be hit by storms or strong weather to keep a close eye on their animals and to bring them inside or under shelter.

Super Guarantee Changes!

From 1 July 2022, two important super guarantee (SG) changes will apply to your business.

> the rate of SG is increasing from 10% to 10.5%
> the $450 per month eligibility threshold for when SG is paid is being removed.

These changes mean that from 1 July 2022:

> you'll need to make SG contributions at the new rate of 10.5%
> employees can be eligible for SG, regardless of how much they earn. You may have to pay SG for the first time for some or all of your employees.

You will need to ensure your software is updated correctly.

REMINDER FOR EMPLOYERS:

The next quarterly super guarantee payments are due to your employees’ super funds by this Thursday 28 April.

If you need help with your super or STP obligations give us a call.

Updates to Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment

The Australian Government has announced changes to its pandemic relief payment in order to reflect changing testing, isolation and close contact regulations across the country.

This financial support is designed to allow employees without access to paid sick leave to take time off work because they, or someone they're caring for, has to self-isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19.

The most significant change is that an employee who tests positive to COVID-19 via Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) may now be eligible for this support. Previously this payment was excluded to those with a positive Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) result.

From 18 January, the payment is also scaled based on how much work is lost over an isolation period of up to seven days:
Individuals who have lost or expect to lose 20 hours or more will continue to be entitled to $750.
Individuals have lost or expect to lose at least a day of work or up to 19 hours will be entitled to $450.
A financial hardship test has also been introduced, with individuals who have available funds of $10,000 or more ineligible to ensure the taxpayer funded payments are targeted to those who need them most.
