Wednesday night training - practice drills of fire fighter skills on a chilly evening ❄️🔥💦 Rolling attack, establishing wet lines, filling the tanker, pulling water from the tank and the all-important radio practice.
An amazing night of teamwork - thanks to all who could make it!

Progress on the new shed is now happening fast. It will be so good to able to have our brigade even more organised and prepared 🔥

They’re the voices in their ears when a fire ignites and they play a critical role in disaster and emergency response.

Firecom Brisbane recently hosted RFSQ volunteers from Toorbul and Stanmore to give an insight into the centre’s operations.

This was a valuable visit for all involved and a fantastic opportunity for our personnel to collaborate.

🤩 selling raffle tickets at Boonah Tavern last night - it's our turn on the 3rd Friday each month. Folks are so generous - locals and visitors alike! A huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets. Crazy that fire got cranking on a cool damp day - goes to show how DRY the conditions are 🤯

Multi agency callout to assist Rathdowney Fire & Rescue (aka Red Trucks!) with an out of control grassfire at P***n Creek pushing uphill in the wind.

Our crew of 4 worked on extinguishing edges of the burn from the black and ensuring no fire was active, particularly smouldering logs. These can take a lot of time and water to deal with!

Crews on scene were urban and rural units from Rathdowney Rural Fire Brigade and Fire and Rescue , Kooralbyn red trucks, Woodhill Rural Fire Brigade , Birnam Rural Fire Brigade as well as Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)

Our crew turned out fast for the drive to Rathdowney/P***n Creek - thanks to Clinton Freeman , Trent, Brad Grant and Nick for being ready and available to assist! 💫🔥

Last Sunday (Mother's Day 💖) saw dedicated volunteers swing into training mode ... Boonah Airfield was humming with Air Base Operator training taking place right here on our doorstep. ✈️🚒

Across Brigades in the Boonah Group, we now have 9 qualified Air Base Operators, which means that when fire activity ramps up, we can quickly stand up the airbase, refill water bombers, and get them back in the sky doing what they do best.

Keeping water bombers flying takes a fair bit of know-how, teamwork, and people willing to spend their weekend learning the fiddly bits. A huge effort from everyone involved, and a big step forward for local capability.

Tremendously fortunate to have an airfield right here in Boonah!

Training night last Wednesday 🔥💦 welcoming new recruits and ticking off mandatory skills and paperwork! Even for old hands refreshing basic skills is useful and keeps knowledge fresh.

It's getting drier and later this week will see temperatures in single digits overnight ❄️ risky fire conditions so be very careful on farm. Give us a call if you want to discuss fire hazard reduction in the Allandale area!
