On Tuesday night, our Productivity Consultant Mark spoke at Swan Hill Stockfeeds on ‘Growth on Grass’, focusing on maximising growth rates on pasture and the factors that drive lamb performance.

The discussion covered the role of imprint feeding, early nutrition and rumen development, and how these factors can influence a lamb’s ability to perform and grow on pasture.

A great opportunity to share knowledge and discuss the factors that contribute to lamb performance on pasture.

Last week, two of our consultants, Mark and Eliza, joined the Adelaide University Agricultural Students Association at their Growing the Future event.

They spent the event speaking with students from Adelaide University about the career opportunities available across the agricultural industry.

It was great to be part of the conversation and connect with those considering their own future in agriculture. Thanks to AUASA for having us!

A fantastic result for the Hurrell family at the 2026 SA Dairyfarmers' Association Awards — and two very well-deserved recognitions. 👏🐄

Congratulations to Wes & Rita Hurrell, winners of the 2026 Innovative Farmer of the Year Award.

Wes and Rita have always been prepared to challenge conventional thinking and invest in the future of their dairy business,Rockwella Farm Holsteins. Their recent large-scale dairy development is a great example of that mindset. Tom and the TRAC team were fortunate to work closely alongside Wes and Rita throughout the three-year journey, from design and planning through to implementation.

Wes and Rita were also members of the original TRACtion Farmer Group, established 11 years ago to bring progressive dairy farmers together to challenge thinking, share ideas and drive innovation within their businesses.

And the recognition didn't stop there.

A huge congratulations to their son, James Hurrell, who was named 2026 Young Dairyfarmer of the Year. 🏆

James was one of the early members of the TRACtion Young Farmer Group, an initiative we ran to bring together progressive young dairy farmers to share experiences, challenge ideas and develop their thinking alongside their peers.

While that group hasn’t run in recent years, seeing people like James continue to develop and achieve recognition like this is a great reminder of the value of bringing the next generation of farmers together.

Having two generations of the Hurrell family recognised in the same year is a terrific achievement and a reflection of their commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and the future of the dairy industry.

Congratulations Wes, Rita and James — thoroughly deserved!

Could iodine be limiting your lamb survival? 🐑

Lamb survival starts long before lambing. Iodine plays an essential role in foetal development, helping newborn lambs regulate body temperature, stand, suckle and get off to the best possible start. Deficiency is most common in high rainfall areas, on sandy soils and where brassica crops are grazed, making it an important consideration during late pregnancy.

At TRAC, we are committed to helping producers stay at the forefront of emerging technologies that have the potential to improve productivity, efficiency and profitability across the livestock sector. As innovation continues to reshape the way farms operate, it is important that producers have opportunities to see new technologies in action and hear firsthand experiences from those already putting them into practice. With this in mind, TRAC recently partnered with Halter to host a Virtual Fencing Field Day on the property of dairy and beef producer Lachie Tindall.

An early adopter of virtual fencing technology, Lachie generously opened his farm to share both the opportunities and practical challenges he has encountered since implementing the system. While the day attracted a smaller group than anticipated, attendees valued the open discussion and practical insights provided by both Lachie and the Halter team, gaining a greater understanding of how virtual fencing may fit within modern dairy and beef enterprises.
