Your Border Watch reports matter.

A NSW aged care provider has been sanctioned and required to repay nearly $120,000 to sponsored employees following an investigation that started from a Border Watch report.

Australian Border Force officers found the business had sponsored 19 workers under the Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) visa. The business had recovered sponsorship-related costs from 13 migrant workers, which is prohibited under Australia’s migration laws.

Australia’s migration laws are designed to protect temporary visa workers from exploitation and strictly prohibit approved work sponsors from recovering, transferring, or shifting sponsorship-related costs on to visa holders.

We're committed to enforcing sponsor obligations and addressing exploitation within the migration program. Employers who attempt to avoid their sponsorship obligations should expect to be detected, investigated, and held accountable.

If that’s you – we’re onto you.

We are taking strong action. We recently removed a non-citizen who scammed international students and lodged fraudulent visa applications. They now face bans on returning to Australia.

If you give paid immigration advice without being a registered migration agent or an Australian legal practitioner, you’re committing a serious offence. Non-citizens can face visa cancellation, detention and removal.

If you’re doing the wrong thing, stop now – or expect consequences.
