One of the biggest reasons businesses struggle with cash flow isn’t a lack of work… it’s slow payments.

A few simple changes can make a big difference!

✔ Send invoices as soon as the job is finished

✔ Set clear payment terms (7–14 days works well)

✔ Use automated reminders so you’re not chasing payments yourself

Using software like Xero can make this even easier! You can send invoices from your phone on site and automate reminders so your cash flow keeps moving.

A good reminder of the important role bookkeepers and BAS Agents play in helping small businesses stay compliant and ahead of ATO changes!

While the release of the Federal Government’s 2025–26 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) in late 2025 delivered continuity for small businesses, there is a clear signal of tightening compliance and a stronger approach to ATO interest charges. This increases the responsibility on BAS Agents and bookkeepers, to guide clients through a tougher regulatory landscape.

📢 Did you know? The ATO Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) is permanently closing

📆 30 Jun 2026 – Last day existing users can make super payments through it
❌ 1 Jul 2026 – The clearing house closes permanently

What this means:
✔️ If you currently use the ATO clearing house to pay staff super, you’ll need to choose another SuperStream-compliant payment method before 1 July 2026

Now’s the time to plan and make the switch to a payroll system or commercial clearing house that meets the new rules.
