Not every heating and cooling company can sell or install Daikin systems. The dealer program is selective, and not every company qualifies.

What that actually means for you as a customer: technicians who are factory trained on Daikin systems specifically, genuine Daikin parts on the shelf not third-party alternatives, warranty support that goes through the manufacturer directly, and access to the full Daikin range.

Some companies in this region default to Mitsubishi Electric or ActronAir partly because those brands are more openly distributed, anyone can access them. Daikin's selectivity isn't a limitation. It's why systems installed by qualified dealers perform better and last longer.

Before you fire up the gas heater this winter, three things to check 👇

🔵 The flame should always be blue. Yellow or orange means incomplete combustion.
⬛ Soot marks around the heater body or flue are a red flag.
👃 A musty or burning smell on startup isn't normal.

Any of these, don't run it. Carbon monoxide has no colour and no smell. A faulty gas heater is one of its most common sources in Australian homes.

If your Brivis system was installed in the early 2000s and is still running, it's working a lot harder than it needs to.

A 2.5-star gas heater costs significantly more to run than a current 5 to 7 star model delivering the same heat. Over a Bowral winter that difference adds up every week.

Signs it might be time to upgrade rather than service again: takes ages to reach temperature, runs constantly without cycling off, needed repairs two seasons in a row, or it's over 12 to 15 years old.

Quick question for families of four: when did you last run out of hot water mid-morning?

If it happens regularly, the system probably isn't too old. It's probably just the wrong size for how your household actually uses hot water.

Here's what the numbers look like depending on system type:

Heat pump, 270 to 315 litres. Gas storage, 135 to 170 litres because the faster recovery rate means a smaller tank does the job. Off-peak electric, 315 to 400 litres because it heats once overnight and that stored volume has to last the whole day. Gas continuous flow, sized by flow rate rather than tank volume, around 24 to 26 litres per minute for two bathrooms.

A heat pump pulls warmth from the outside air rather than burning fuel to make it, so even on a cold Bundanoon morning, it’s working efficiently. Pair that with zone controls so you’re only heating the rooms you’re using, and the running costs can be surprisingly low over a long Southern Highlands winter.
