Big news from Daikin, and we are here for it.

Daikin Australia has launched their new CO2 Hot Water Heat Pump, and it is now available through us here in the Highlands.

The headline stat: a COP of 6.15. That means for every unit of electricity it uses, you get 6.15 units of heat. That is exceptional for a hot water system.

It runs on R744, natural CO2 refrigerant, which has a Global Warming Potential of just 1. Environmentally, it is about as clean as heat pump technology gets.

Sizes available are 250L and 315L, built with duplex stainless steel for long-term durability.

Ducted gas or hydronic heating, which one's actually better?
Depends entirely on how you live in your home. Ducted gas heats up fast. Great if you're out during the day and want the house warm by the time you get back. Hydronic is slow to heat up but stays consistent. Better if you're home most of the day, great for solid brick or concrete slab homes, and much better for anyone who dislikes dry forced air. Neither is universally better. The wrong choice usually comes from picking on price alone without thinking about how the home is actually used. We install both systems and we'll give you a straight recommendation based on your home.

Not every heating and cooling company can sell or install Daikin systems. The dealer program is selective, and not every company qualifies.

What that actually means for you as a customer: technicians who are factory trained on Daikin systems specifically, genuine Daikin parts on the shelf not third-party alternatives, warranty support that goes through the manufacturer directly, and access to the full Daikin range.

Some companies in this region default to Mitsubishi Electric or ActronAir partly because those brands are more openly distributed, anyone can access them. Daikin's selectivity isn't a limitation. It's why systems installed by qualified dealers perform better and last longer.

Before you fire up the gas heater this winter, three things to check 👇

🔵 The flame should always be blue. Yellow or orange means incomplete combustion.
⬛ Soot marks around the heater body or flue are a red flag.
👃 A musty or burning smell on startup isn't normal.

Any of these, don't run it. Carbon monoxide has no colour and no smell. A faulty gas heater is one of its most common sources in Australian homes.
