MECC | Mechatronics Engineering Clayton Club MECC is a student run club promoting the study of Mechatronics Engineering at Monash University.

Mechatronics is a relatively new area of engineering, uniquely combining areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Systems and Control Systems Engineering. Mechatronics engineers have a broader knowledge of each of these disciplines and an understanding of how they can relate to each other. This allows for more viable, reliable, economic and versatile solutions to fairly complex problems. Robotic

solutions tend to be multifunctional, and we are seeing more and more of these systems integrated into industry now than we did previously. Mechatronics Engineering Clayton Club (MECC) was formed to popularise and promote awareness of Mechatronics Engineering among students and companies. MECC assists students to develop and apply traditional classroom theory in practical fields. This is done through providing support for their projects and organising competitions, which encourage the Mechatronics way of thinking. We also promote opportunities for students to undertake industry experience and assist to strengthen the bond between university students and industry. We endeavour to act as a platform for Mechatronics students and students of other engineering disciplines to share their ideas. Come one, come all! Workshops for SMEE x MECC's Robot Building Competition have been finalised 📢‼️

Bring your team and build the skills you'll need for competition weekend!! Whether you plan to compete or not, the workshops are a great way to learn how to build your own Arduino based robot. We bring the gear, you bring the vibes. 🔧💡

Each RBC team should attend one workshop option each week:
Monday 4-6pm
Thursday 5-7pm
Friday 6-8pm
📍 room 231, Learning and Teaching Building

Each week covers a different topic
Week 2: Motors and servos
Week 3: Control and RFID communication
Week 4: Mechanical design

SMEE and MECC are running our annual Robot Building Competition!

You will work in a team of ~4 peers, either friends you bring along, new ones you meet - or anything in between - all levels of experience and expertise are welcome. Work together to design and build a robot to solve a problem scenario we give you.

The event consists of three sets of workshops running in the weeks leading up to the final competition. These workshops are comprehensive and will teach you the basics of everything you need to be successful in the competition. The final competition will run over a weekend, your team will use knowledge gained from the workshop to design a robot from the kit provided.

🛠️ Workshop Dates: Weeks 2, 3 & 4 (dates TBA) and will cover:

Motors and robot control

Servo motors and RFID communication

Mechanical design

📅 Competition Date: 9:00am-5:30pm Saturday 22nd – Sunday 24th August (end of week 4 Semester 2)

🦾 Team size: 3-4 (we can match you with a team if need be!)
