Today is the Equinox, a time when we experience night and day in equal measure. Today we balance on the precipice anticipating our launch into Summer. I noticed it was getting lighter earlier in the mornings...

It's pretty easy to enjoy these positive, balanced vibes on a lovely sunny day like today.

'Spring has sprung, the grass is ris
I wonder where the birdie is?
Some say the bird is 'on the wing'
But that's absurd! The wing is on the bird...

Every first day of Spring, as far back as I can remember, my mum has repeated this quote and still does. And now so do I haha. No matter how odd, I guess that's how traditions start 🥰...

Happy First day of Spring 🌷

I'm feeling the huge energy of the coming Full Moon, anybody else?

It feels expansive, revealing, enlightening. Maybe even a bit shocking...

The Full Moon carries big, big energies and this month it occurs in Aquarius, which is big picture issues. Things that are philosophical, ethical, humanitarian, global.

I'm feeling like these energies could very quickly whip up into a frenzy of impulsive decisions and reckless behaviour if shaken, not stirred, so I'm watching...

My plan is to try and and indulge in some self care, pampering, and a bit of slow living, for the next few days to counter the restlessness I'm feeling. That shouldn't be too hard in Lockdown 😊

Remember, if you can be anything, be kind x

Happy Full Moon 🌕☯️🌏

Today is Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.
Antarctica is now officially in darkness for the next six months.
We get our longest night, and our shortest day ( just 9 hours and 36 minutes).
The sun rose this morning at 7.35am and sunset will be at 5.08pm.

I love this point in the year. I always feel that we have reached the halfway point in the forest and are starting to come out the other side. I know we are still technically just getting started with Winter but knowing we’ll get more and more sunshine from now on just seems to feel expansive and energising.

Winter Solstice feels a little bit like a New Moon energy to me. Solitary, contemplative, restful, almost meditative.
The quietest day of the year.

A perfect opportunity for introspection, reviewing and making plans. With a Full Moon only days away we have time for hibernating and snuggling under a blanket while we recharge and refocus.

I’m ready to lean in, embrace the downtime, and make way for the light to enter.

Happy Winter Solstice 🌖❄️☯️

Have you been watching?

I have really enjoyed watching this show. Peter has shown how many varied ways clutter can show up in your home.

Space Invaders has been a great inspiration to lots of people, and been just the encouragement needed for people to reach out for support from my professional organiser colleagues.

The show has had a bit of a hiatus for the last few weeks due to unforeseen circumstances but they’re back next Saturday!

You still have time between now and then to watch all the back episodes too and maximise this Full Moon energy to get purging. Win-win 👍🥰

I'M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP NOW!!

If you have missed Space Invaders for the last three weeks then NOW is the time to demonstrate just how much you love and support the show that Cherie Barber - Renovating For Profit, Lucas Callaghan and I loved making for you.

Please rally your friends, family, co-workers, strangers, the family dog .... anyone you can .... to tune to Channel 9 on Saturday night at 7:30pm to push our ratings through the roof and leave no doubt just how popular this show is.

I would be so grateful if you'd share this post and encourage others to make an appointment with Space Invaders this Saturday night. See you there!

You might notice the sky is a bit dark tonight. New Moon in Aries began just after lunchtime today but I doubt we will see any sign of her.

I’m such a ‘Look at the Moon!’ person so when there is no moon in the sky I feel a little disappointed and look forward with great anticipation until I catch a glimpse of that first little sliver again.

But the Dark Moon, the period between the last visible waning crescent and just before that first little wedge is visible, is the most Yin phase of the lunar cycle and a perfect moment in and of itself. Quiet, reserved, yielding.

It’s like that brief rest moment when we breathe. When no more can be exhaled but we have yet to start drawing a new breath. A pause. A stillness.

We tend to think deeply and introspectively during this one day of the month, but often subconsciously. Lots of new ideas materialise. Creativity is high. We refocus, assess, and reset our direction, goals, and intentions for the next four weeks.

The slate is clean. Whatever has been before is passed. We now look forward with renewed vigour and determination.

The forthright, bold, pioneer Aries New Moon energy will be ideal support for setting plans and just getting on with it.

I often write my intentions in a journal, meditate, or visualise what I would like to happen at a New Moon. I have sometimes co-opted a friend to help keep me accountable too. But mostly I like to do some form of New Moon ritual.

The way it’s done can depend on the sign that the New Moon is in. Today is Aries. A Cardinal, Fire sign. Driven, bold, likes to take action. So I was drawn to light some candles, write my intention on a piece of paper, make a New Moon wish, then send it out to the universe by burning the paper.

Would love to hear if you do the same...

Dream, wish, do.
Happy New Moon

On a whim yesterday I started culling photos, screenshots, and other pics from my photo gallery on my iPad.

I had been searching for photos to pull together into a folder and I just started deleting a few at a time that I realised I no longer needed.

Before I knew it I found myself selecting and deleting until I reached the very last photo.

It was an urge to purge that I simply couldn’t resist.

Full Moon energy at its best.

It wasn’t a decision so much as a reflex.

Lean in.
Follow the urges.
Let go of whatever isn’t serving you and make way for the new.

Happy Full Moon everyone 🌕☯️❤️

Banish.com.au

Finally! I’ve been collecting these blister packs for ages instead of chucking them into landfill, not really knowing what to do with them until now. Banish.com.au will recycle them! They accept a range of other waste streams as well. So all I need to do is post them and for my trouble they will give me a $15 voucher to spend on their online eco store! (Limit of one per customer per month) 💚😃 hopefully the postage won’t be too much but I’m just happy that they will be recycled. Here is the link to their website, https://banish.com.au/ then look for the the “Banish Recycling Program” hyperlink.

I've enjoyed my break immensely but I'm a little bit lower in energy than usual for the start of a New Year, how about you?
The New Moon energy will help, it always does, but I like to be ready for it...

Full Moon, Blue Moon, Halloween, all on a Saturday night. What a treat for them all to happen together!

A Blue Moon is the name given to the second Full Moon in a calendar month and tonight’s Full Moon is in Ta**us which gives it a practical flavour of grounding, comfort, and stability.

Did you know, despite Hollywood’s depiction of a Full Moon on Halloween, that happens only every 18 or 19 years? So tonight really IS a once in a Blue Moon occasion! I think that warrants some celebration.

Remember to put out any crystals that need a moonbath tonight and, as usual, whether you do it with a ritual or not, make a conscious decision to let go of anything that is no longer working for you. Oh and if you can, lean into that Ta**us energy and walk barefoot on the ground...

Happy Full Blue Moon, Happy Halloween

Thanks Suzie for sharing this. If anyone is within striking distance of The Alfred, this is your chance to make a difference and edit some excess at the same time.

Update: We want to say a huge thank you to our community for the overwhelming and generous response we’ve had to our psychiatry WardRobe project - for more info on how you can donate visit: https://bit.ly/340FcRa

Many of the patients who come into the psychiatry inpatient unit are admitted with only the clothes they arrive in, and some have no access to other clothing. So our Mental and Addiction Health team are launching a new project called the ‘WardRobe’ – a robe stocked with good quality pre-loved clothing, as well as new underwear and footwear - available to our patients when they need them.

To help make sure the wardrobe stays full, the unit are calling for donations from our staff and community. The walk-in wardrobe is launching on Friday 6 November and is based on the First Floor Ward in our inpatient unit.

The unit are accepting donations now via a clothing bin located in the psychiatry unit's front reception area. Read more: https://bit.ly/2SPMy3t
