Dr Brenda Abbey is the CEO of Childcare by Design. Brenda is a consultant, author, presenter, advocate for children and mentor in the early childhood education and care sector. She is committed to achieving best outcomes for children in education and care settings and achieves this through variety of avenues. These include: providing expertise and advice to developers, architects and other experts

in the design and build phase; writing all documentation services need to operate (e.g. policies, procedures, handbooks, position descriptions); and, supporting and mentoring directors and educators in all aspects of their day-to-day practices. Update to Child Protection and Risk Management Policy for Queensland only. Change of name of Department.
The Service provides educators with ongoing professional development in child protection, and the topic is regularly discussed in team meetings. Each year, Child Safety Officers from the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs and/or Police Officers are invited to speak at team meetings on issues relating to child protection. Information provided includes Abuse – Types and Indicators. Training needs are documented in a Training and Study Record – Educator, and monitored.
