The multi-award award winning Summerfield Winery is situated in the small rural township of Moonambel, Victoria, Australia. The family-owned vineyard and winery was established in 1970 and today produces Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. You can enjoy wine tastings with a cheese platter at our charming cellar door café deli and we also offer modern studio apartment accommodation. Summerfield is in the top 100 Australian wineries according to James Halliday.

Just when we thought last week couldn’t get much better, we’re still pinching ourselves over being named the winner of the 2026 Federation University Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence – Regional Development Australia Grampians Growers and Producers People’s Choice Award.

And this one is particularly special because you chose us. ❤️

Unlike a wine competition, this wasn’t decided by judges blind tasting in a room, instead it was decided by the people who actually live in, visit and support our region.

To everyone who took the time to vote for Summerfield, shared our story, sent us a message, visited the winery or simply cheered us on…

Thank you.❤️❤️❤️

It means an enormous amount to our family and our whole team.

And with yesterday’s wonderful results at the Western Victorian Wine Challenge as well, it’s fair to say we’ve had a pretty extraordinary week!

🍷🏆 WHAT A DAY AT THE WESTERN VICTORIAN WINE CHALLENGE! 🏆🍷

The Summerfield team had a very good reason to raise a glass today, attending the 2026 Western Victorian Wine Challenge Awards Lunch (Western Victoria Wine Challenge) in Ararat - and we’re absolutely thrilled to be heading home with not one, but TWO major awards! 🙌

🥇 BEST CABERNET SAUVIGNON 🥇

Our soon-to-be-released 2024 Summerfield ‘Reserve’ Cabernet Sauvignon has taken out Best Cabernet Sauvignon - an award we last won in 2024 with our 2022 Reserve Cabernet. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about this one!

🏆 THE PROVENANCE AWARD 🏆

And then came something particularly special… our Summerfield ‘Reserve’ Shiraz was awarded the prestigious Provenance Award.

This award is all about ageing potential and provenance, with three vintages of the exact same wine judged together - the current vintage, a wine 5–10 years old, and one more than 10 years old.

In our case, that was our 2024, 2018 and 2015 Reserve Shiraz.

To have these wines recognised together is a wonderful endorsement of the longevity, consistency and cellaring capabilities of Summerfield wines - and of the rewards that come with giving great wine time.

It’s also a pretty good reminder of the value of our 'select museum releases', currently available through the cellar door. Someone else (us!) has already done the hard work of cellaring them for you! 🍷😉

Alongside the two major awards, we were also incredibly proud to receive multiple Gold and numerous other medals across our wines.

A MASSIVE thank you to the entire Summerfield team - from vineyard to winery, cellar door and beyond - who work so hard to produce wines we’re incredibly proud to put our name on. ❤️

And a huge shout-out to the Western Victorian Wine Challenge committee, the incredible judges, and all of the wonderful sponsors who make this event possible - including the Pyrenees Shire Council and Melbourne Polytechnic.

These awards are a fantastic celebration of the quality and diversity of wine being produced right across Western Victoria, and we’re genuinely honoured to be part of it.

Two trophies. Gold medals. Plenty of reasons to celebrate. 🥂

What a night! ✨

Last night we had the absolute pleasure of heading to Ballarat for the Federation University Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards, and what a night it turned out to be!

From the nerves of hearing our name called as a finalist… to that pretty incredible moment when Summerfield Winery & Accommodation was announced as the winner of the Regional Development Australia Grampians Growers & Producers People’s Choice Award! 🏆

There were plenty of smiles, a few emotional moments, lots of celebrations - and maybe a glass or two of wine along the way! 🍷😉

A huge congratulations to all the finalists and winners across the awards. It was fantastic to celebrate the incredible businesses, people and organisations that make our region so special.

And of course, thank you again to everyone who voted for us and helped make this happen. ❤️

🎉 TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT! 🎉

The big one is here! Tonight we’re heading to Ballarat for the Federation University Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards Gala Presentation Dinner - and we couldn’t be more excited!

Summerfield is incredibly proud to be a Top 3 Finalist in the Growers & Producers People’s Choice Award. 🥂🍷

It’s been an amazing journey getting this far, and we’re so grateful for everyone who voted, supported us, visited the winery and backed our little corner of the Pyrenees Region.

Now all that’s left to do is put on the glad rags, enjoy the night… and keep everything crossed! 🤞

A great day for the Pyrenees!!!

Last Thursday, the Pyrenees Grapegrowers & Winemakers Association (PGWA) came together for our annual ‘One Year Tasting’, wonderfully hosted by the team at Blue Pyrenees Estate.

It’s one of the most valuable days on the regional wine calendar - wineries and winemakers from across the Pyrenees bringing along samples of their 2026 whites, sparkling bases and rosés, plus 2025/26 reds for blind tasting, appraisal and open discussion around the table.

More than 35 wines were blind tasted, assessed and discussed, with plenty of honest, constructive and inclusive conversation. It’s a fantastic opportunity to put our wines up for critique alongside fellow producers who share the same ambition: to make great wines that express the character and potential of the Pyrenees Region.

And the verdict? Striking consistency and quality across the board.

It’s another great reminder of just what the Pyrenees is capable of producing — both as individual wineries and as a wine region as a whole.

A huge thank you to Lucy, Eden and John from Blue Pyrenees for hosting another wonderful and highly valuable event. We’re already looking forward to next year!

ONE WEEK TO GO!

The countdown is officially on!

Just one week until the Gala Awards Presentation Night in Ballarat next Thursday night - and we’re getting pretty excited!

It’s been an incredible journey to make it this far, and we’re so proud to be representing the region as a finalist in the Federation University Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards – Grampians Growers & Producers People’s Choice Award.

Massive shout out to the other 2 finalists - both incredible producers doing amazing things who would love your support too!
