Something shifted this week in how we think about what Jetpack actually does.
For a long time, it looked like a funnel. Everyone comes in, and the job is to move them toward the biggest sale. That's how most service businesses are built. It made sense. It also meant we were always pushing.
What we landed on this week is different. Jetpack is a triage now, not a funnel.
Triage doesn't push. It figures out what each person actually needs and routes them accordingly. And sometimes the honest answer is: you don't need more from us. You're already sorted.
That sounds like it costs money. In practice, it sharpens everything. When you're not trying to convert everyone, the offer gets cleaner. The conversation gets shorter. The right clients recognise themselves faster.
One front door. One conversation. Three ways out the back — same product, same six-week frame, same first week. What changes is who does the work. The founder does it themselves, a coach walks alongside them, or our team builds it for them. Same outcome. Three speeds.
The model underneath has three layers. Get the basics in — roles, ownership, how the business actually runs. Then capture what's happening — build the memory of the business. Then, and only then, turn that memory into smart systems. AI that has something to reason about.
You can't skip ahead. AI on top of a messy business just makes the mess move faster. That's why most rollouts fail. People buy the smart layer before the business has anything for it to think about.
We've got two clients in the build right now. One doing all three layers. One who came in at layer two because their foundations were already solid. Both of them fit the model perfectly when we looked back. Neither of them were recruited to prove a theory.
That's what real proof looks like. Not a case study. Work that was already underway, that turns out to match the frame you hadn't named yet.
The honest bit: it's easier to build systems for clients than to run on them yourself. But the model only works if we live by it too. That part is still a work in progress.
