The Resolution Facilitator Team had the opportunity to walk in the shoes of the artists who contribute to the culture of Sydney during a beautiful walk of Sydney public art.

We were guided by the wealth of knowledge that is Barbara Flynn, curatorial advisor for new art in the public domain. This experience made us reflect on all the culture we take for granted as well as the ways art is unconsciously connecting us.

Our take-outs from the experience:
Shirli: Fabulous year end
Sarah: Connection, beauty, reflection
Alexandra: Awareness, beauty, birds (did you know there are 67 brass birds scattered around Sydney CBD?)

We would like to encourage everyone as this busy year comes to a close to take time to yourselves to search for the art around us, visual and sonic. Be inspired by the experiences with family and friends and use that to create art of any kind in the New Year.

If anyone has some hidden art gems (of all kinds) in Australia, let us know!

Last week I attended the APRA AMCOS Arts Music Awards with my colleague (and member of our Governance Committee) Jake Mason. The performances were beautiful.

Words that were shared have stayed with me, and sit in the space of working together to solve problems:
- Collaborate
- Music transcends
- Transformative
- Voices to be heard - nothing as powerful as the human voice
- Group, community, sharing

It was an absolute pleasure - thank you! Sarah Nicholson (Resolution Facilitator Team).

Vale Michael McMartin.

Michael McMartin was a colleague and friend, and an integral part of the genesis of Resolution Pathways.

Michael, along with Keith Welsh, helped establish the pathways available for music creators through our service. Their innovation contributed to an Australian Dispute Centre Award for the scheme.

Michael was generous, a superb mediator and a trusted advisor. Many that have used our service have benefited from his contribution and guidance. Members of our inaugural Stakeholder Group are also lucky enough to have a keepsake of his legacy in a wooden pen he crafted for them.

Michael will be missed.

Happy International Women's Day!

The Resolution Pathways Team wanted to share our thoughts and reflections on International Women's Day:

Shirli:

At this time I reflect on those women at home and around the world whose circumstances are still dire.

I also recognise the strides that have been made. The spaces that have opened for inclusion, the women who have been liberated to achieve and have done so.

On IWD I reflect and reach out to those being challenged and celebrate progress and the wins. I feel lucky to be surrounded by so many fabulous and supportive women in a space of such opportunity. Happy IWD x

Sarah:

For me, this IWD is a reflection on community & a call to look for those things that connect us.

My first memory of an IWD celebration is of performing in the school choir at the past students dinner each year. I remember the sense of community and developing connections beyond my peers.

This day prompts me to reflect on the support systems that have shaped my growth. Beyond the annual celebration, it's a celebration of the communities of women that I am privileged to be in (like these fabulous 2 women on my team).

Alexandra:

To all the women who have paved the way for me, thank you. To all the women who will come after me, I hope we can make you proud and make it so that you can live life with no limitations. There is still work to be done but I use this day, and every day, to recognise all the hard work that has come before me.

I am beyond privileged to be surrounded by such strong and hardworking women in all aspects of my life (including this incredible team).

Happy International Women’s Day!
