Today is School Crossing Supervisor Safety Awareness Day 📆

🚗 It's a reminder for all drivers to slow down, pay attention, and follow the rules at school crossings.

Our Crossing Supervisors play a vital role in keeping children and families safe – but they also need our help to stay safe while doing their job 💙

You may notice supervisors wearing safety ribbons today. These are to honour Crossing Supervisors in our community and to remember Brian Beach from Wodonga, who tragically lost his life while supervising a school crossing in 2024.

➡️ Drivers, please remember:

• Slow down and stay alert in school zones.

• Stop when directed by a Supervisor.

• Be patient and give them space to do their job safely.

Remember - keeping our School Crossing Supervisors safe is everyone's responsibility.

Great to catch up with Dreena Lawrence-Gray from School Crossings Australia on Friday. With the school term about to start, we discussed priorities for 2026 and the year ahead, as well as the importance of training for this important role within our local communities. If you are looking for support....

“A conversation can change a life, check in with someone tomorrow and every day”

As we reflect on the importance of mental health awareness and support, School Crossings Australia wanted to take a moment to acknowledge two significant occasions that fall on the same day: R U OK Day and the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

While R U OK Day encourages us to check in on those around us and foster meaningful conversations about mental well-being, the anniversary of September 11th reminds us of resilience, unity, and the importance of community during challenging times.

In our collaboration, let’s honour both these moments by promoting kindness, compassion, and support—reminding everyone that they are not alone, and that reaching out can make a profound difference ♡

At School Crossings Australia, we understand the immense responsibility placed on those who ensure the safety of our children at school crossings.

That's why we've dedicated ourselves to providing the highest quality training, built upon decades of experience.

Our training is meticulously designed to support the personal development of our Supervisors.

We focus on enhancing safety protocols, legislation, promoting consistency in performance, and equipping Supervisors with the adaptability needed to navigate the ever-changing environments they operate in.

This is critical for both the Supervisor's well-being and the safety of the children.

Have you ever received training from one of our trainers at SCA?

We would love to know your thoughts in the comments 💭

Our crossing supervisors do an amazing job, but they cannot do it alone. Let’s all do our part on the road to keep our kids safe.

Remember to:
• Slow down around school crossings.
• Give way when the flags are up.
• Stop and wait for everyone to cross.
• Don’t let kids in/out of the car at crossings.
• If you see a school crossing, use it.

The rules around school crossings aren’t just courtesy, it’s the law. To find out more visit

🚸 Did you know that if a children's crossing has red & white posts & CHILDREN'S CROSSING flags out that you MUST stop and give way to any person that is on or approaching that crossing, whether there is a crossing guard on duty or not.

Following several near missess where children have come very close to being hit by cars that have not stopped, Indigo Shire employees attended the Kiewa Valley Primary school crossing at Kiewa East Road Tangambalanga to assess suitability for a crossing guard ⚠️

The financial penalty for failing to stop and give way is $494.00. 💰🚦
The cost of a persons life or injury is priceless & heartbreaking for all those involved 👨‍👧‍👦
