Greenbatch

Greenbatch Greenbatch is a WA based social enterprise dedicated to tackling waste plastic challenges.

As part of it's operations, it has established a NFP organisation called Greenbatch Foundation dedicated to engaging, educating and empowering the local community. Since 2017, Greenbatch has partnered with schools, businesses and community members to develop an extensive collection network for people to deposit both PET and HDPE waste plastic.

To all the passionate Greenbatch fans out there that were perplexed as to why Greenbatch didnt get funded Cleanaway did.when the State Government was choosing who should build the plastic reprocessing plant for WA, perhaps read this article for some clues.

We were called and asked if we wanted to have dinner with the Minister... it was a special VIP dinner and to be invited we had to make a donation... Interesting.

We refused to make a donation as we were putting out funds into community work, running school programs etc. so we didn't get invited to the dinner..

And then when the major plastic reprocessing funding grants were announced, Greenbatch missed out completely. Cleanaway, a $4.5billion dollar company got a major slice. As well as a heap of businesses we had never heard of, run by "interesting" business men with family and other connections the to Department did.

Read this article... It explains it well!

There's Nothing in It for You. There's Nothing in It for Me. They're Only in It for Them.

You ever notice how right-wing politicians never, and I mean never, talk about the s**t that actually matters to your life?

I'm serious. Think about it. When was the last time you heard one of these c***s get up on their soapbox and say, "You know what we really need to tackle? Poverty. Homelessness. The fact that people are working three fu***ng jobs and still can't afford to see a dentist."

Never. That's when.

No, no, no. They're too busy sucking the dicks of billionaires and fossil fuel executives to give a single flying f**k about whether you can afford to keep the lights on this winter.

The Things They'll Never Talk About

Here's a fun drinking game: take a shot every time a right-wing politician proposes legislation that actually helps working-class people. You'll be stone-cold sober by the end of the year. You'll be the designated driver for the rest of your fu***ng life.

They're not talking about:

Reducing poverty. Why would they? Poor people don't donate to campaigns.

Making education affordable. Can't have the peasants getting too educated, they might start asking questions.

Renewable energy. Their donors are oil barons. Climate change? That's a problem for your grandkids, not theirs. They'll be dead. Who gives a s**t?

Homelessness. Out of sight, out of mind. Just move them along. Problem solved, right?

Mental health services. Oh, you're depressed because you're working 60 hours a week and still living paycheck to paycheck? Have you tried just... not being sad?

Rampant inequality. The world's about to have its first trillionaire while people are rationing their fu***ng insulin. But sure, let's cut taxes for the rich again. That'll trickle down any day now.

They have nothing good to say about the working class. Nothing for the working poor. Nothing for the unemployed, the struggling, the desperate, the people one missed paycheck away from disaster.

Unless you're a wealthy donor, a corporate lobbyist, or a media mogul, you are fu***ng invisible to these people.

The Efficiency Grift

And when they do pay attention to government spending? Oh, then they suddenly become fiscal conservatives. Then they care about waste.

They'll send some soon-to-be-trillionaire c**t like Elon Musk to create some bulls**t government agency, DOGE, for f**k's sake, named after a meme, to "cut waste and inefficiency."

And what do they cut?

Meals on wheels for the elderly. Funding for public broadcasting. Programs that help poor kids get breakfast before school. Educational programs like Sesame Street.

"We can't be wasting money on the poor! We can't be wasting money on teaching kids their ABCs! We need to be fiscally responsible!"

But when it comes to corporate subsidies? Tax breaks for the wealthy? Military contracts that somehow always go over budget? Billions in bailouts for banks and corporations that f**ked up?

Crickets.

That's not waste, apparently. That's "economic stimulus." That's "job creation." That's "too big to fail."

We can only have waste for the rich. We can only give more to those who cannot spend what they already fu***ng have.

You know what's insane? Giving billions to people who have so much money they're literally racing each other to space for fun while telling a single mother she doesn't deserve food stamps because she might be "gaming the system."

The Bait and Switch

Oh, but they'll drop you a few crumbs. A tax credit here, a rebate there. "Let them eat cake," except it's a stale fu***ng Tim Tam and you're supposed to be grateful.

"Look how much we care! We gave you $200 back on your taxes!"

Yeah? How much did you give fu***ng ExxonMobil in subsidies? How much did you let Facebook dodge in taxes? How about all those corporate c***s who paid zero tax last year while you're auditing some poor bastard who claimed his work boots as a deduction?

And sure, sure, modern medicine has advanced. We've cured diseases. The "standard of living" has supposedly improved. Great. Fantastic. But here's the thing: they're rolling it all back.

We went from treading water to drowning, and nobody in power seems to notice, or care.

The Slide Backwards

Let me ask you something: Do you feel better off than you did ten years ago? Twenty?

Because I'll tell you what I see. I see:

Rent that's gone through the fu***ng roof.

Property prices that are so insane that owning a home is now a luxury reserved for the wealthy or the incredibly lucky.

Grocery bills that make you weep in the cereal aisle.

Energy costs that force people to choose between heating their home or eating dinner.

The basics. The essentials. The s**t you need to survive. And it's all getting more expensive while wages stagnate and these political parasites tell you the economy's never been better.

Better for who? Not for you. Not for me. For them.

The Blame Game

But here's where it gets really fu***ng sinister.

They know you're angry. They know you're struggling. They know you're scared.

So what do they do? They point you at someone else. They get their shock jocks, their talking heads, their social media influencers, all bought and paid for, to redirect your rage.

"It's the migrants! They're taking your jobs!"

"It's the illegals! They're draining the welfare system!"

"It's the trans kids! They're... I don't know, existing menacingly!"

Anything. Anything except the truth.

The truth is: It's not the migrants. It's not the refugees. It's not the people at the bottom fighting for scraps.

It's the c***s at the top hoarding all the fu***ng wealth.

The Puppeteers

And you want to know the really f**ked up part? The world is run by the greedy and powerful, and their magic ability is fooling the working class into believing that it's the working class's fault.

That's the trick. That's the con.

They've got us fighting each other. Us versus them. Left versus right. City versus country. Black versus white. Native-born versus immigrant. Everyone pointing fingers at each other, screaming about who's the real problem.

Meanwhile, the puppeteers sit atop the fu***ng table, pulling the strings. Drinking champagne. Laughing at us.

The Murdochs. Fox News. Sky News. The power brokers who have the money and the influence to install whoever they deem fit, whoever will provide the most riches to them.

They own the media, so they control the narrative. They own the politicians, so they control the laws. They own the system, so they control your life.

And they've convinced half the population that the enemy is the person working next to them instead of the billionaire who's never done an honest day's work in his life.

The Real Problem

You want to know why you can't afford a house? It's not because some family from Syria got accepted into the country. It's because property developers and foreign investors treat housing like a fu***ng poker game while politicians let them get away with it.

You want to know why wages haven't kept up with inflation? It's not because of unions (though they'll tell you it is). It's because corporations have spent decades crushing collective bargaining while politicians, who receive very generous donations, look the other way.

You want to know why the planet's on fire? It's not because you forgot to recycle that plastic bottle. It's because fossil fuel companies have known about climate change for 50 fu***ng years and spent billions lobbying politicians to do absolutely nothing about it.

You want to know why your public services are crumbling? It's not because they're "inefficient." It's because they've been systematically defunded so the savings can be funneled into tax cuts for people who don't need them.

The System is Working Exactly as Intended

Here's the thing that'll really bake your noodle: The system isn't broken. It's working perfectly.

It's just not working for you.

It's working for them. The donors. The lobbyists. The executives. The 1% who own more wealth than the bottom 50% combined.

They've captured the media, so you only hear their version of reality. They've captured the political system, so laws get written in their favor. They've captured the regulatory agencies that are supposed to keep them in check.

And they've convinced half the population that the problem is other poor people instead of the obscenely wealthy c***s who are robbing us all blind.

So What the F**k Do We Do?

I don't have all the answers. I'm a nobody with a page, not a fu***ng economist.

But I know this: We need to stop falling for the bait.

Stop blaming the people at the bottom. Start looking at the people at the top.

Stop letting them divide us with culture war bulls**t while they pick our pockets.

Start demanding politicians who actually give a f**k about the basics: housing, healthcare, education, a livable wage, a planet that isn't actively trying to kill us.

And if your politician is more concerned with the tax burden on billionaires than the rent burden on you? If they're more worried about "government waste" when it's feeding hungry kids but silent when it's bailing out banks?

Vote them the f**k out.

Because here's the reality: There's nothing in it for you. There's nothing in it for me.

They're only in it for them.

And until we wake up to that fact, we're just gonna keep drowning while they sail past us in their fu***ng yachts, wondering why we're not grateful for the crumbs.

That's it. That's the rant. Now get angry. And then get organized. Because they're counting on you staying divided, staying distracted, and staying defeated.

Don't give them the satisfaction.

Keep fighting the good fight. Never give up. Never give in. We are the last line of defence against tyranny. And you better fu***ng believe this, we're all in the fight or our lives.

The Greenbatch collections truck has had its stickers removed, ready for sale. How different does it look without the Greenbatch branding on it... It is a bit sad if you ask us, but it is time for the truck to find a new home. Make sure you let anyone you know that might be interested in purchasing a truck know.

Oh dear, ANOTHER fire at cleanaway, and Cleanaway is the commercial entity who the WA State Government is trusting and backing to do reprocessing in WA rather than a social enterprise Greenbatch who was set up of the back of of environmental values!!

Anyone else think they might have made the wrong choice?

Cleanaway Waste transfer station is on fire in the city of Canning, with residents in Kewdale and Cloverdale being impacted by the hazardous smoke.

After three and a half years, hundreds of thousands of plastic containers recovered, tonnes of plastic waste shredded and hundreds of volunteers, the Greenbatch Foundation has sadly come to an end on Tuesday, after it was voted into liquidation.
It has been an absolute pleasure being involved with a social movement that promoted conversation and behavioral change about plastic and plastic waste. Thousands of school children have been collecting plastic waste since 2019, then bringing their families on board to reduce the plastic going into the environment. The changes in people's plastic consumption and waste disposal patterns following a workshop or having a Greenbatch bin turn up to their business or school has been the ultimate reward.

For the short time being the drop points will be serviced by another refund operator, and our donation points will be closed. The liquidators are working with WARRRL and other industry peers to maintain service to our network partners. The colors on the truck won't be purple and green, but the eligible containers collected will be recycled through the Containers for Change program. If you can keep your ineligible items out of the drop points, as other refund operators are not set up to process the non 10c eligible items.

We have put notices on our drop points not to put your collections in the drop boxes until otherwise notified. Please follow the https://www.containersforchange.com.au/wa/where-to-return to see when they will be reopened. It will only be a matter of days. For those people that have put collections into our drop points between Monday and Tuesday 11am they have been taken to the Return It in Shenton Park today by a volunteer for processing so you will get your refund in a timely manner. Our concern was the customer first.

A huge thankyou to all staff, volunteers and sponsors who have been such an integral part of what we do. Without you none of this would have been achieved. For all of our network partners, we thank you for your commitment to waste reduction and recovery.
Please don't stop reducing, reusing and recycling.

Happy recycling,
Natasha
former Managing Director, Board member and volunteer of Greenbatch Foundation for the past 2 1/2 years.

This is big! Especially in the events space where the use of biocups and biodegradable packaging has created huge problems for waste streaming. So much of it went into General Waste due to the lack of source separation and then the requirement to have access to commercial composting.

Plastic products that claim to be 'compostable' aren't great either.
