Pruning finally has come to an end with us now being able to focus on some odd jobs to be done while the weather is nice! We have a block of Shiraz that has struggled the last few years with disease. This year we are pulling out all the bushes that surround the block to allow more air flow through the area which allows the vines to dry out after rain.

Last years harvest wasn’t the best. With all the rain we had leading to up to harvest meant it was harder to control disease due to it being humid majority of the time.

Finally after some time my amazing partner and I designed a new logo for the business I hope you all like it as much as I do.

How goods this weather!

The busiest time of year if finally here for all of us in the viticulture industry. We will be into spraying our vineyards up until harvest which with any luck will be around the end of February

Why do we spray?

We generally mix copper and sulfer together which helps protect against mildew. But it isn’t always that easy unfortunately!

This year will be our first year using an over row spray cart. This will allow us to get more pe*******on through the vines once the canopy has formed and increase the chance of protecting the vines from diseases and we can do twice as much as we used to. In the past we have used a single row spray cart which has been great for some of the tight headlands that we come across it is time consuming but it still gets the job done.

We are now passed the bus burst stage and now we will see a lot of movement in the next few weeks especially if the weather stays the same

Busy morning this morning cutting out vines to make way for a new variety we are changing from reds to whites. removed 12 rows of Cabernet. We are grafting which means the whole vine doesn’t need to come out of the ground completely. We should get our first harvest in about 2 years

Well it’s getting to that time of year again when things start to get busy the vines have started growing again so that means we are only a couple of weeks away from bud burst which means we will be flat out spraying through the warmer months

If you know anyone who is looking for a contractor please pass on my name would be much appreciated!
