Life's third act… what will you do with your third act? This is an inspiring speech by Jane Fonda.

"We have agency. We are the subjects of our own lives. But very often, many, if not most of us, when we hit puberty, we start worrying about fitting in and being popular. And we become the subjects and objects of other people's lives. But now, in our third acts, it may be possible for us to circle back to where we started… Older women are the largest demographic in the world. If we can go back and redefine ourselves and become whole, this will create a cultural shift in the world…"

Within this generation, an extra 30 years have been added to our life expectancy -- and these years aren't just a footnote. Jane Fonda asks how we can re-imagine this new phase of our lives.

I’ve been reading a lot lately about the term anti-aging. Why do we need to try to prevent the aging process? Why not embrace it? Life doesn’t stop as we age, it gets better in so many ways. This quote from Judy Dench says it all. We all have the opportunity to reinvent ourselves no matter what age we are. Life is full of opportunities and possibilities. Don’t stop dreaming just because you’re a woman of a “certain age”.

Age is an opportunity for reinvention. Embrace it and discover the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
Dame Judi Dench

Focus is how you knit the hours of the day together. With focus, the day becomes a beautiful tapestry. Without focus, you end up holding a bundle of loose string. ~ James Clear

What's stopping you reinventing yourself. It's never too late.

What's stopping you reinventing yourself. It's never too late.

Stop telling yourself all the cants you’ve made yourself believe.
You’re better than that, so shrinking yourself for the expectations of others or because you’re afraid will never be enough for you.
It’s okay to be scared..
That means you’re alive- in fact, we’re all scared at first.
Before you do it, it may seem impossible or implausible,
And that’s okay, too.
Please don’t tell me that you’re too old, too tired, too beaten down or too weak.
I know it’s hard to believe in yourself because you’ve been downtrodden and at rock bottom for so long.
But this is where you start your comeback.
This is the chapter in your life that changes your life..
And it’s all up to you.
Before you say I’m naive, that I don’t know how hard it is or that I don’t know what it means to be tired..
I do.
I’ve been where you are and I made a choice to rise from the ashes of the old life that I burned down..
So, it’s your turn to choose to rise up or stay down.
Whatever your dreams are, no matter how big or how small,
You’ve got this.
Learn to dance.
Start a new career.
Skydive.
And when you get to that point where you’re scared and maybe it even hurts a little..
Keep going.
Your best days, your loudest laughter and deepest loves are still ahead of you.
Stop saying what could go wrong and start believing what could go right.
It’s your life.
You’ve got one shot.
Make it a memorable one.
In the end, it’s all up to you.

Think you’re too old to start something new, think again.

Think you’re too old to start something new, think again.

People sometimes tell Kath Clune she is amazing because she is still driving and walking. But like many other women her age, Kath is challenging the stereotype that older people are a burden on the community.

Some great advice here:

10 Top Lessons From The Book Think Like A Monk that Will Transform Your Life.

1. Your mind can either elevate you or pull you down.
Your monkey mind will aimlessly jump between thoughts and challenges if you let it. Choose a life of meaning over pleasure and quality over quantity.

2. Find your true self
You're not what others think you are. So don't spend your life living someone else's dream. Detach from the opinions of others. It will put your relationships at risk. But it's the only way to live a life authentic to you.

3. Create space for reflection
Sit down and reflect on your emotions and decisions at the end of each day.

Through reflection you listen to your inner voice, find who you really are, and discard the expectations of others.

4. Live by your values
The more you define yourself by the values of others, the more lost you are. To live a life true to you, find values that align with you and live by them. Don't let your news feed, the media, or others dictate what you value.

5. Audit your life
What you do with your spare time says a lot about what you value. If you say you value family but spend all day at the offer, you're not living by your values.

Audit your time and correct course if your actions and values don't align.

6. Your environment influences your values
If your community is happy, then you'll likely be happier. Join communities that look like the future you want. Do the people within your community share your values?

7. Don't be a savior
You're not responsible for everyone else's problems. If you can't swim, don't try to save someone who's drowning. Help people you know you can help.

8. Take joy in the success of others
If you only find joy in your own successes, you limit the joy you experience. Learn to find joy in the success and achievements of others.

9. Focus on the practice
Don't allow yourself to get lost in results. Let success become a natural part of your life instead of a progress report.

10. Reflect on death
Imagine how you'd like to be remembered at your own funeral. What impact will you have on the world?Align your actions to build your legacy.
