AFAC News has released the Bushfire Seasonal Outlook for Spring. Large areas of central and northern NSW are expected to see increased risk of fire this spring due to high fuel loads and the forecast of warmer and drier conditions.

Increased risk is forecast for parts of the coast and ranges not affected by the 2019/20 fires, due to drier and warmer conditions and includes areas around Greater Sydney, parts of the coast and north of the Hunter.

Dry conditions on the South coast have also increased risk. In areas affected by the 2019/20 fires, vegetation has regrown in some area more quickly. For the southwest, higher soil moisture levels and low rates of curing are seeing a normal fire risk.

If you live, work or are travelling through bush fire prone areas make sure you know what you will do if threatened by fires. Review and discuss your bush fire survival plan.

How warm was yesterday? Tee shirt & shorts, even the thongs came out. In July!

Before it gets really hot, and the re-growth gets out of hand, maybe its time to have a look at the vegetation levels and reduce the hazard to your own and your neighbours property.

Also worth checking if you live in a bushfire prone area (which is pretty much everywhere) and, you have carried out renovations that have required a council DA in the last few years, you may find that continued maintenance of an asset protection zone (APZ) forms part of the consent conditions. Something that is often overlooked.

If you or someone you know needs expert help, get in touch Asset Protection Zone Maintenance. We are experienced, equipped and qualified, not only to create, maintain and certify APZ's but, we are also happy to carry out general clearing that reduces bushfire fuel levels.

Please share as this bushfire season has the potential to be pretty eventful and we want everybody to be better prepared for a safer summer.
