This morning our Mount Pleasant CFS Cadets were proud to take part in the flag raising at the annual Mount Pleasant Progress Association Australia Day Breakfast. It was a special moment for our young members to be involved in a community tradition and represent the brigade.

A big thank you to the Mount Pleasant Progress Association for hosting another wonderful event, and to everyone who came along to celebrate Australia Day and support our town. Events like these are a great reminder of the strength, pride and connection that make Mount Pleasant such a special place to live.

We’re grateful to be part of such a supportive community.

πŸŽ„ Mount Pleasant CFS at the Christmas Parade! πŸŽ„

On the weekend, the Mount Pleasant CFS, proudly led by our dedicated Cadets, had the privilege of taking part in the annual Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade and Street Party. We had a fantastic time connecting with our community and sharing in the festive spirit.

Following the parade, our baked potato stand was a huge success, helping raise much-appreciated funds for the brigade.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us, whether you cheered from the sidelines or lined up for dinner. Your support means the world to us! πŸš’β€οΈ

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT from Mt Pleasant CFS πŸš’

The Fire Danger Season for the Mt Lofty Ranges (of which Mt Pleasant is a part of) has commenced πŸ”₯

This community announcement is the notification that fire siren testing will move to weekly as of 9 December, at approximately 7.00 pm every Tuesday πŸ“’

Please let your friends and family who are not on social media know of both the commencement of the Fire Danger Season and the commencement of weekly siren testing.

Siren testing is done in accordance with CFS policy. The format of the test will be 3 blasts of the siren in a 1-0-1 configuration. The first blast will be short (approximately 2-3 seconds after wind up) followed by a long blast (approximately 5 seconds) followed by a short blast (2-3 seconds).

The purpose of the siren is to alert and call firefighters to the station if the primary source of emergency notification is inoperative. Secondly, a long continuous siren is to warn the community that the town is in imminent danger of being impacted by fire.

Without regular testing, the CFS siren has been known to seize (see the previous Mt Pleasant CFS post). Testing is therefore part of regular maintenance. Replacing the siren if this damage occurs is not financially viable as station sirens across the state are not funded, repaired or replaced by the SACFS.

This announcement is also a timely reminder for members of the community to review and update their bushfire safety plans, and in times of emergency to monitor an official source of emergency warning information for detailed updates during events such as fires:

βœ… CFS website: www.cfs.sa.gov.au
βœ… Alert SA app
βœ… Bushfire Information Hotline: 1800 362 361 (TTY 133 677)
βœ… Facebook: SA Country Fire Service and SA Country Fire Service Updates
βœ… Instagram:
βœ… X (Twitter): and
βœ… CFS email bushfire subscription service
βœ… Radio: ABC Local Radio (891 AM)
βœ… TV: ABC News 24

⚠️Do not rely on a single source for emergency warning information ⚠️

The siren is NOT a trigger for community evacuation. If the siren is sounded in one long continuous blast, follow the advice provided by the published emergency information.

Thank you

πŸ”₯ Kicking Off Fire Danger Season with Readiness in Mind πŸ”₯

Tonight, our Mount Pleasant CFS crew hit the ground running with a timely training session focused on roadside grass fires and asset protection. Members worked seamlessly together through a full start-to-finish exercise, simulating a real incident from first response to wrap-up.

At Mount Pleasant CFS, we train like we play, so when the call comes, we’re ready to protect our community.

A big thank you to our friends at the Friends of Cromer School for generously allowing us to train on their grounds.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of current serving member Glynn Jackson.

Glynn passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, Kehau, and daughters Kelli, Natalie, and Lauren, on the 12th of October. His loss will be felt deeply by his family, our Brigade, and the wider community.

Glynn was community hearted to the core, and has served with the CFS since 1985. Former captain, current Brigade and Group Logistics Coordinator, photographer, and fundraiser extrodinnaire, his presence will be missed.

The brigade will continue to support each other, and Glynn's family, through this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks, with Kehau to notify of the details when they are ready. The station flag is flying at half mast in his honour.

In the words of Kehau, "love one another".

Thank you, Glynn, for your dedication and service. Rest easy.
