2MG Mudgee - 75th Reunion

The end of an era, as a new one begins. 97.1 2MG commenced at 7am last Monday, with 10KW ERP to better cover the Mudgee region, with a relay transmitter on 101.5 for the areas around Kandos and Rylstone.

As this new era begins, another ends with the current 1449AM service to be officially turned off in 3 weeks' time.

As part of this, we are planning a "Farewell to 1449" special to go to air before the AM TX is turned off.

We'd love to hear from as many ex-2MGers as possible. Just drop us a line to [email protected] or if you can, record some audio (smartphones are great!) about your time or what 2MG means to you.

We'll need the audio by April 12.

Once it airs, we'll also put the special online.

Sad news over the weekend, with the passing of longtime manager Edna Wells aged 91.

Anyone who listened to, advertised on, or worked at 2MG during the 60's and early 70's will remember the enthusiasm of PJ (Pat Saunders. He filled a number of roles here over the years and was very much an ideas man but with the drive to make ideas work. Pat died on Feb 26, a public memorial service is being held in Narromine to (9/3/15) at 2pm. PAT Saunders plied his trade as an entrepreneur with quick wit, humour and the dulcet tones of a true radio voice.

Sorry we've been a little quiet of late, with having a reunion and all... but we'd love to keep the memories alive.

2MG has had a number of long serving staff over its 75 years including Chris Mills, who in 36 years has performed a number of roles with the station.
