It’s amazing how much can change in 32 years!

Back in 1993 Tony and Debbie started preparing the soils, driving in posts, hanging wires and planting vines.

In 1997 those vines began producing enough fruit to make our first ever vintage 🍇

By 1999 we had wines now bottled and ready to drink, and so the Vinifera cellar door was built and opened its doors in 2000.

Now 25 years on, we’re slowing down and focusing on what we started with - a great vineyard and delicious wines. The same Vinifera you love, just without a physical tasting room.

Our final day is next Sunday 11 Jan, don’t forget to RSVP if you’re planning on joining us for a final cheers!

As we reflect on the past 25 years at the cellar door, there’s one group of people we think of in particular, and that is the people who poured the wines. We’ve been so lucky to work with some truly incredible humans over the years, and we’re endlessly grateful for their dedication, care and support. They know who they are, and they’ll always be part of the Vinifera family 💛

Join us for a final cheers to the Vinifera cellar door for a relaxed, family friendly afternoon on the lawns. To celebrate, will be popping up with their delicious tacos and Mexican fare alongside $10 wine by the glass, local beer, lawn games and a few special deals on take home wines.

Most importantly, we’re looking forward to sharing memories from the past 25 years over a glass of wine on our final day as a cellar door.

Our cellar door has evolved a lot over the past 25 years. From Debbie pouring tastings of our very first vintages over the bar, to the seated, self-guided style we offer today. At its core, it’s always been about good wine and good conversation. We’ve loved sharing our knowledge of viticulture, winemaking and the region along the way 🥂

Did you know we opened the doors to our cellar door way back in 2000? From tastings to weddings, birthdays and everything in between, it’s hosted so many family, friends and visitors over the past 25 years.

In the lead up to our last day on 11 January, we’ll be sharing some of those memories here and we’d love to collect a few more. If you’ve got photos or stories from over the years, send them our way!

We wanted to share some news 💚

From 11 January 2026, we’ll be closing the Vinifera cellar door and shifting to online and wholesale only. It hasn’t been an easy decision, but it’s one that feels right for our family and where life is taking us.

In the new year, Sam will be heading to England for a couple of years (with plenty of Sunday roasts and European wine adventures planned), while Tony & Debbie are looking forward to more time with their ever-growing crew of grandkids and a little less time polishing glasses behind the bar.

Between now and then, it’s very much business as usual at the cellar door, and we’ll be marking Sunday 11 January with a farewell day — more details soon.

One more change worth sharing… will be moving into our cellar door space from out the back and starting an exciting new chapter of their own. So while things may look a little different, there will always be something to do (and drink) at 194 Henry Lawson Drive.

And just to get ahead of the small-town rumours 😉
We’re not selling the property.
We’re not closing the business.
And Mudgee will always be home.
