60 years of CMRI in Mudgee. That’s not just a number, it’s a legacy.
Our local CMRI Committee began in 1966, sparked by something deeply personal.
After the heartbreaking loss of Joy Loneragan’s son David to childhood leukaemia, Sir Lorimer Dods invited Joy to form a local committee to raise funds and awareness for children’s medical research. On 2 August 1966, Mudgee became the 11th chartered committee, and the work began.
What followed has been six decades of community spirit in action.
From the early garden lunches and local gatherings, to the creative events that have become part of Mudgee’s social fabric, the goal has stayed the same: support research that helps children live healthier lives.
Since those early days, our committee has raised an extraordinary $584,389.83 for CMRI.
That figure represents thousands of acts of generosity, local businesses giving, volunteers showing up, and a community choosing, year after year, to do it for the kids.
As we celebrate 60 years, we’re proud of the history, and even prouder of the people who keep carrying it forward.
