🐑What can regular in-paddock weighing tell us about building a more climate-resilient flock?

As part of the Improved Decision-Making for Climate-Smart Flock Management project, we’re trialling Optiweigh, a mobile weighing system that records sheep liveweights as they visit the unit in the paddock.
The project aims to support sheep producers across NSW and Victoria explore practical ways to improve productivity, resilience and sustainability as seasonal conditions change.

🤔Where does Optiweigh fit in?
Regular weight data helps producers track flock performance and make more informed decisions about feed allocation, grazing management and stocking rates. Combined with pasture monitoring and strategic nutrition, this can help make more efficient use of available feed while reducing emissions intensity.

Through on-farm demonstrations, workshops and case studies, the project will explore how these tools and practices can be applied in real farming systems.

Riverine Plains is working on a project to identify practical, non-chemical ways to reduce slug damage in establishing canola and cereal crops.
As the project gets underway, we’re asking growers to complete a very short survey about how you currently manage slugs on farm. Your responses will help us establish a baseline of current practices, so we can measure whether the management strategies demonstrated through the project lead to changes in practice over time.
