Want to see how I prep our fox and wild dog traps?
Trapping is more than just bait. Scent control, wind direction, bait position and how the animal approaches the set all matter.
I use nitrile or leather gloves, waxed traps and baking paper to reduce unwanted scent. The bait is positioned so the fox or dog can only approach from one angle.
Branches and logs create a V-shape to guide them onto the sweet spot. A couple of drops of fox urine, or a light spray in the trees above, can help carry scent through the area.
Pre-baiting with a small bit of chicken can also get them comfortable before the trap goes in.
All traps are purpose-designed, checked closely and used responsibly where permitted.
