Can you spot the termite risk?
This red strip is Kordon—a physical termite management system installed to help protect your home from concealed termite entry. It is impregnated with termiticide, meaning termites that come into contact with the treatment as they attempt to travel up into the building are stopped and forced into the open.
In this photo, gravel has been placed over the Kordon system. This creates a “bridge” that can allow termites to travel over the treated management system without contacting the termiticide.
Instead of being exposed or stopped at the protection system, termites may be able to bypass it and make their way into the home unnoticed.
Keep termite management systems clear and visible, and avoid placing soil, gravel, garden beds or stored items over them. Regular professional termite inspections can identify bridging and other issues before they lead to costly damage.
