An appropriate infrared camera for the use of animal physiological imaging or of a high enough accuracy and thermal sensitivity can detect sensitive changes in the muscular, vascular, skeletal, and nervous system.
It can quickly and efficiently identify areas that may require further investigation. Your vet and team of equine professionals can then plan treatment needed and IR imaging can then be used to monitor the recovery.

Infrared Imaging aids diagnosis and rehabilitation in horses. Horses are animals of prey that instinctively hide their injuries. Horses cannot verbally communicate with us the location or extent of their injuries – IR Imaging can help detect the source of pain.

IR Imaging is a non-invasive, non-contact tool, that works graphically by mapping the skin’s surface temperature changes associated with injury and inflammation, caused through trauma or secondary pain due to primary disease or injury.

Having performance issues or a difficult to diagnose lameness that you can’t quite pinpoint?
Infrared Imaging can help localise the source of pain or discomfort, an invaluable tool to help assess your horse and help with the decision-making process when proceeding further into investigation or treatment.

Equine Infrared Imaging is a non-invasive monitoring tool that uses the very latest infrared imaging equipment and computer software to detect small differences. It allows us to quickly and efficiently identify abnormal thermal patterns that may be related to injury or disease and to further assist equine professionals in veterinarian investigation.

Has your horse’s behaviour recently changed? Could it be due to pain?

Many owners are reluctant to launch into a full veterinary investigation particularly in the absence of lameness and therefore start to outsource other professionals. It is very common for owners to contact physiotherapists, massage therapists and source alternative holistic care before consulting their vet but a collective approach to investigation normally works best for the horse.

The Vet-IR services I provide may help to bridge the gap and ensure that changes in performance and/or behaviour due to pain are not being overlooked. Call or message today to schedule your free consultation!
