Dillon Rural

The weather certainly wasn’t on our side today, but that didn’t stop more than 150 people from rolling through the gates for our Dillon Rural Demonstration Plot Field Day!

To say we’re grateful would be an understatement. The turnout was absolutely fabulous, and seeing so many people walking through the plots, comparing varieties, asking questions and sharing their own experiences was exactly what this site was created for.

Our demonstration site isn’t someone else’s project with our name attached to it. We’ve planned it, helped plant it, fertilised it, sprayed it, mowed it and learnt plenty from it ourselves.

We created it because we believe our local farmers and producers deserve somewhere they can see products growing under real local conditions, ask honest questions and learn alongside us. Seeing the site filled with people today made every bit of that work worthwhile.

Thank you to everyone who attended, especially those who travelled a fair distance to be there. Thank you to our guest speakers, suppliers and representatives.

A huge thank you also goes to our Dillon Rural team. An enormous amount of work went into preparing the demonstration site, the stores and the day itself—we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the day together and to our community for getting behind it. We’re incredibly proud of what was achieved and genuinely excited about where the demonstration plot project can go from here.

Brunswick Oats looking right at home in Mackay. 🌾

It's always rewarding to see a healthy crop coming along well, and this paddock is a great example. Good establishment, strong growth and plenty of promise as the season progresses.

Our Brunswick continues to perform well across a wide range of growing environments, and it's great to see another strong crop taking shape.

A big thank you to our grower for allowing us to showcase their paddock. We look forward to seeing how it develops over the coming months.

If you'd like to know more about Brunswick Oats or discuss which oat variety is best suited to your requirements, feel free to get in touch with our team.

🌱 Timing is everything 🌱

In agriculture, even small shifts in timing can influence how plants establish and perform.

From seasonal temperature changes to soil conditions and moisture levels, different factors come into play at different points throughout the growing cycle. What happens beneath the surface — often unseen — can play just as important a role as what we see above ground.

Soil processes and biological activity continue to respond to these changes, interacting with seeds and plants in ways that can vary depending on the conditions and timing involved.

It’s a reminder that in every season, there are multiple layers at work — all contributing to how crops respond over time.

šŸ„› World Milk Day šŸ„›

Today we recognise the role of dairy in supporting communities, livelihoods, and food production around the world.

Across Australia, dairy farming is an essential part of the agricultural landscape — contributing not only to nutrition, but also to regional economies and local communities.

Behind every litre of milk is a complex system of pasture, soil health, seasonal conditions, and careful management. From feed quality to environmental factors, many variables play a part in supporting consistent production.

World Milk Day is a great reminder of the connection between agriculture, science, and the everyday products we rely on.

This morning I had a walk through some paddocks of multi species for dairy production.
Although there’s a TONNE of brassicas visible on top there’s plenty of other species just waiting for some sunlight.
My suggestion, graze it now and give yourself a feed wedge in the other paddocks.
Can’t wait to see the regrowth in behind

šŸ šŸ Today is World Bee Day! šŸ šŸ
Today is an opportunity to highlight the important role pollinators play in agriculture, food systems, and plant biodiversity.

Bees are essential to the reproduction of many crops and native plant species, supporting seed and fruit development and contributing to healthy, productive agricultural systems. Their activity influences not only yields, but also genetic diversity and long‑term crop sustainability.

While bees aren’t part of the seed testing process here at AgEtal, their impact is felt well before seed reaches the laboratory. Strong pollination supports quality seed production, which in turn underpins reliable planting outcomes further down the supply chain.

World Bee Day serves as a reminder that agriculture relies on many interconnected components working together — from pollinators and plants in the field, to testing and analysis behind the scenes. Even small contributors can have a significant and lasting impact.
