Malabar Resources was proud to host the 2026 Hunter Valley Mines Rescue Pty Limited Underground Competition.

We entered two teams across our Whynot and Woodlands operations, going up against some of the best emergency response talent in the Hunter Valley. A huge congratulations to our Woodlands team, who took out first place in the first aid competition - a fantastic result that reflects the skill, preparation and dedication our crews bring to keeping each other safe underground.

Events like this are a great reminder of the importance of mines rescue training across the industry.

Congratulations to everyone who competed, and thank you to the organisers for putting on such a valuable event.

We're proud to support Warrior Disability Services, an organisation dedicated to helping people living with disabilities live their best lives.

Our team has been collecting cans and bottles on site, and we're thrilled to share that our ongoing donations have now reached a total of $1,000 at the recycling centre. Every can and bottle makes a difference, and our team has shown what's possible when a workplace comes together for a good cause.

A good breakfast makes a great start to the day and for many families in our community, the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre's Breakfast Van makes that possible.

Each morning, the van is out providing free breakfasts to local school kids and their families on their way to school, offering a varied menu and a warm start to the day.

Recently the van ran into trouble when a water leak caused both the hot water system and water pump to fail, putting the service at risk. Malabar Resources was happy to step in and cover the cost of replacing the water heater, pump and completing the electrical repairs to get the van back operating safely.

To the team at Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre and the volunteers, thank you for everything you do for our community every single morning. We're proud to support you.

We're proud to be supporting the breakfast club at Aberdeen Public School.

Every Thursday morning, Miss Jess, the school's student and family wellbeing support officer, opens her doors early so students can start their day with a nutritious meal and a friendly face. For the 165 kids at Aberdeen Public School, it's a simple thing that makes a real difference.

Malabar has sponsored the weekly breakfast club for six months because we believe every child deserves a good start to their day inside the classroom and before it.

Malabar is proud to support the next generation of squash talent in our region!

On 1st and 2nd August, 10 local juniors from Muswellbrook Squash Club will travel to Singleton to compete in the Squash NSW Junior Country Championships, a silver-ranked event that draws junior players from across the state competing for state ranking points.

Malabar is pleased to have donated $1,600 to cover court hire and entry fees for all 10 competitors, making sure that cost is no barrier for any of our local kids who want to compete at this level.

At Malabar, investing in our local community goes hand in hand with everything we do. The Hunter Valley is our home, and supporting young people to get out, compete and represent their region is something we're genuinely passionate about.

To the 10 juniors heading to Singleton, we wish you the best of luck. We'll be cheering you on!

Now in its fourth year, the Witmore Trivia Night brings together local businesses, families and community members for a fantastic evening of trivia, food, raffles, auctions and entertainment in support of an organisation doing incredible work across the Singleton region.

Witmore Limited is a not-for-profit, NDIS registered disability service provider supporting 88 people with disability through programs and four social enterprises, with a vision to inspire, empower and create change by building inclusive opportunities where people feel valued, capable and connected to their community.

This year's event is themed Film & Fame 🎥⭐ and will be held on Saturday 18th July at the Singleton Civic Centre. Funds raised on the night go directly towards Witmore's programs and social enterprises.

Congratulations Penny Woodward: Women in Mining Award Winner 2026!

We are absolutely thrilled that Penny Woodward, Infrastructure Manager at Malabar Resources, has won the Exceptional Woman Award at the NSW Mining: Women in Mining Awards 2026!

From performing as a professional bassoon player in touring orchestras to restarting a coal preparation plant that had sat idle for seven years, Penny has never been afraid to take on a challenge. The resilience and dedication she forged as a world-class musician never left her, and mining is all the better for it.

Since joining Malabar Resources in 2022, Penny has been an extraordinary force, playing a pivotal role in the start-up of our CHPP and going on to lead a multidisciplinary team of around 25 people as our Infrastructure Manager.

Penny's impact goes beyond our mine. As Chairperson of the NSW branch of the Australian Coal Preparation Society, she actively advocates for making mining a more welcoming career path for women because she knows firsthand what's possible when you back yourself.

Last night, that commitment, courage and brilliance was recognised on the biggest stage in our industry!

Penny, we couldn't be prouder. This award is so very well deserved. Congratulations!
