We’re proud to be part of the Nyngan Ag Expo today, with the MacKellar team located in the Sponsors Area.

At MacKellar, we’re committed to supporting the communities where we live and operate. That’s why we’re pleased to be involved in the Nyngan region through our work with Tritton Copper Operations - Aeris Resources on the Murrawombie Open Pit Cut-Back project. This important project is helping support copper production, a critical resource for the renewable energy transition, while creating local opportunities and contributing to the region’s ongoing growth.

If you’re attending the Expo today, we’d love for you to stop by our stand, say hello to the team, and learn more about what we do.

We wish everyone a fantastic day at the Nyngan Ag Expo and look forward to seeing you there!

Behind every machine sent back to site is a team of skilled people who take pride in their work.

This unit is heading out to one of our clients following a full overhaul completed by our Nambour workshop team, who continue to deliver workmanship to the high OEM standards our customers rely on.

The project took approximately 8½ weeks to complete, with all major components, including the C27 engine, torque converter, transmission, differential and bevel gear group, fitted with Hastings Reman components.

The team also completed extensive in-house overhaul works including:
• Final drives
• Full front axle overhaul
• All hydraulic cylinders
• Articulation joint line bore and bearing replacement

Additional work included a ladder upgrade, rectification of all major and minor defects, paint touch-ups, along with full NDT and PVI inspections completed on the chassis.

We often recognise the work of our tradespeople in our posts, but it’s not often we get the opportunity to have the crew together for a photo like this. We wanted to share this image as a small token of appreciation for the hard work, talent and commitment these mechanics bring to the job every day.

While this photo captures part of our Nambour crew, it also represents the many other mechanics and tradespeople working across our projects and workshops who play a critical role in keeping our fleet operating safely, reliably and efficiently. Your work is a huge part of what keeps our business moving forward.

On the move.

WT58 is on its way to one of our operational sites following completion of its build and commissioning by our Blackwater workshop team.

The project involved fitting a new QMW water tank to a CAT 785 chassis imported from Canada through our parent company, North American Construction Group. Following ocean transport, the team completed approximately one month of preparation, mine-spec upgrades and commissioning to ready the machine for service.
This project showcases the capability of our Blackwater workshop, which provides equipment preparation, component rebuilds and maintenance support for our operations across Central Queensland.

A great effort by everyone involved in bringing WT58 into operation.

Work Experience at MacKellar

At just 14 years old, Liam McLoughlin is already setting his sights on a future in the mining industry.

Currently in Year 10 at Unity College Caloundra, Liam recently completed work experience with MacKellar, gaining hands-on exposure to the world of heavy machinery and maintenance at our Sunshine Coast workshop.

Liam said he was drawn to MacKellar because it was one of the few companies in the region working with large-scale machinery that offered work experience opportunities for students interested in the industry.

One of the highlights of Liam’s time with the team was taking part in the deconstruction of a dump truck, giving him a close-up look at the scale and complexity of mining equipment.

During his placement, Liam said he learned “a lot about hydraulics” and was surprised by how much science and engineering go into the machinery and systems used across the mining industry.

With a laugh, Liam also said one thing he quickly discovered was “how dirty you get”, proudly showing off his work clothes after spending time in the workshop environment.

Looking ahead, Liam hopes to become a Diesel Fitter and work FIFO on some of Australia’s leading mine sites. After his week with the team, it is safe to say the experience only strengthened his interest in pursuing a career in the industry.

We thank Liam for spending the week with our team and wish him all the best for the future.

A solid day of work from start to finish.
This week, our workshop team prepared and dispatched three floats in one day, supporting multiple clients across their operations.
A Cat 773 service truck was loaded and sent out to site, along with two D10 dozers on separate floats, all requiring careful preparation, coordination, and timing to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
From final servicing through to load-out and dispatch, our team worked seamlessly across workshop and logistics to get everything out the door on schedule.
It’s a strong reflection of the capability we have in-house and the reliability our clients depend on every day. No matter the scale or complexity, we get it done.

It’s been 10 years since the commissioning of our first Liebherr Australia 996B Excavator.

At the time, it marked an important step forward for MacKellar, captured in this video from the commissioning at Sojitz Corporation Minerva Coal Mine.

A lot has changed since then.

We’ve grown in scale, strengthened our capabilities, and built deeper partnerships with our clients and OEMs. But what hasn’t changed is what matters most; our commitment to safety, the pride we take in our work, and the people behind it all.

Our team continues to be the heart of everything we do.

You’ll notice our logo looks a little different, a reminder of how far we’ve come. While the brand has evolved, our values remain the same.

As we look ahead, we’re more prepared than ever for the next chapter.
