🔬✨ Science Week 2026! ✨🔬

This Science Week, we’re celebrated the wonder of discovery, curiosity and exploration in early childhood! 🌱🔍

Science is everywhere in our learning environments — from observing changes, asking questions and making predictions, to experimenting, investigating and discovering how things work.

Through play-based experiences, children become scientists, researchers and problem-solvers, developing critical thinking, creativity and a deeper understanding of the world around them. 🌏💡

We love seeing those wonderful moments of “I wonder…”, “What if…?” and “Let’s find out!” 💭✨

Happy Science Week 2026!
Celebrating curious minds and a lifelong love of learning. 🧪🦋🌈

Our youngest Angel Tots are developing their gross motor skills through active physical play, exploring how to climb, balance, move and navigate the equipment safely.
This experience encourages:
💪 Strength and coordination
⚖️ Balance and body awareness
🧠 Spatial awareness and problem-solving
👣 Confidence in movement
🤝 Cooperation and social interaction
🌱 Risk assessment and developing independence
Through active play, children learn about what their bodies can do, challenge themselves and build confidence in their physical abilities.

Our children have been developing their concentration, coordination and fine motor skills through Tap-Tap Nails!

Using a small hammer, nails and colourful shapes, children carefully positioned their pieces and used controlled movements to tap them into the cork board.

This hands-on experience encourages children to develop:

🔨 Fine motor strength through gripping and hammering
👀 Hand-eye coordination as they aim and tap
🧠 Concentration and focus as they work carefully
🎨 Creativity and imagination as they design their own creations
💪 Persistence and confidence as they practise new skills

Our work with clay over recent weeks has evolved for each child. Clay supports each child's creativity, sensory exploration, and fine motor skills.
Initially, we spent time rolling, squeezing, pinching, and pressing the clay, working with a different material.
Now we are seeing "tigers" and other wonderful creations emerging as we introduce tools to extend each child's masterpiece.

Our projector is proving to be a space of curiosity and interest in our Caterpillar Room over the past week or so!
A time to be calm and just watch what is moving in front of us!
A time to wonder about what is swimming near us and what will be next!

Children don’t need perfect adults. They need adults who help them feel safe, loved, heard, understood and included.

A child who feels listened to is more likely to speak up.
A child who feels they matter is more likely to believe in themselves.
A child with clear, kind boundaries learns that care and limits can exist together.

Behaviour is often communication. Behind the anger, silence, withdrawal or “acting out” may be a child asking: “Do I belong here? Am I safe? Does anyone understand me?”

Every child deserves to feel seen—not just when they are easy to manage, but especially when they are struggling.

🧩 Focus, Attention & Perseverance Through Puzzle Play

There is so much learning happening during puzzle play! 🧩✨

As children work to fit the pieces together, they develop focus, attention and perseverance. They look closely, notice patterns, problem-solve, test ideas and keep trying when a piece doesn’t fit.

Puzzle play also supports children to:
🔍 Concentrate and sustain attention
🧠 Develop problem-solving skills
💪 Build resilience and perseverance
👀 Notice shapes, patterns and visual details
🤝 Experience the satisfaction of working towards a goal

At Angel Tots learning happens when children have the time, space and encouragement to keep trying. ❤️
