In a nutshell, people in your team, or the people you lead don't care what qualifications you have or all your trophies on your wall, they only care that you care. Simple.

Showing 'care' can be simple acts that people seem to miss. It makes me sad to see this in workplaces but it's happening every day.

How many of these did you do today?

- say hello👋 and good bye
- give a compliment
- ask about pet/kids/family
- advocate for someone else other than yourself
- say thank you and mean it
- show gratitude when someone helps you and recognise them
- buy a round of coffee
- ask, how are you?
- have a conversation that's not work related
- ask how you can help

Its not that hard but our days get busy. Our heads are down.

It''s the simple things that are often missed that leave people guessing if you care at all.

When you are working with people, as a leader, it's easier when your staff open up, speak up and talk about their struggles. 🗣💛

Even if you don't have a solution, even if it's difficult to understand their reasons, openness matters. It allows you to be closer to the truth, rather than fantasising a reality that isn't actually real.

If the people you work with are closed off, it's probably because you are. 🤥

✖️Don't always blame them.
✖️And don't think openness can be achieved overnight.

How do you build safety for your team to feel safe to be themselves? Want to build your value driven leadership approach?

You can create safety with openness without oversharing. 🌻

Because when you do, magic happens ✨️ this is where people can be themselves. Including you. 💚

Being of service takes the edge off the need to be in control. People need to express themselves at work with creativity, enthusiasm and safety.

Give up the control of others, simple ask each day, 'How can I help you do your best work?'

Starting a new role, as a freshie to an organisation and a new role is touch and go for the first 6 weeks. Especially as a leader of people. 😨

You can make a decision in these early weeks if you'll stay or if you go. 🙃🙂

The level of support you receive obviously makes the world of difference. 💯

Regardless if you are supported, you are still stressed. For high achievers you are on high alert - ALL THE TIME. 💥

You stay back, read at home, you watch what you say, observe people/culture and put yourself last as you learn and settle.

❌️STOP!! It's time to create a new normal.

✅️Take your breaks and flex
✅️Create new routines.
✅️Debrief your wins and areas of improvement.
✅️Model healthy work routines you see in others.
✅️Make time for conversation with work people that's not all business.

The in tray is always full, ⚠️ your priorities will conflict often.

Stress causes significant changes in the brain and body. You just can't do .

Time to re-adjust.

It's NOT ok to be mean. 💯

BUT, is it ok to be mean and not know your mean?

High assertiveness can often be perceived as being mean, bossy or opinionated. Especially when you engage with someone who has very low assertiveness skills. Either ends of assertiveness can quickly tip over into behaviours of mean-ness before you know it, even without intending too.

Emotional intelligence is all about understanding how you are feeling in the moment and how those feelings dictate responses in your workplace interactions with people you work with. Same goes for your personal relationships.

The next level in emotional intelligence is understanding how you impact others with your behaviours and interactions, and how you let others impact you. And boy, do they impact you!

When you are a new leader, managing complex personalities or starting a new job, it's great to become more accountable to being able to communicate the best of yourself.

Not the mean version that sometimes can be on auto pilot, or the go-to when you are stressed.

It takes practice to find your authentic communication style, and much easier to find with a coach.

Starting your Monday shouldn't be full of dread. Doing your best work and having a great job and thriving business isn't just good luck. It's knowing how you do your best work, being clear with your goals, and having the right people around you.

How's your Monday? Besides a good coffee, how do you start your Monday?

Being yourself, speaking honestly and living without fear of others breaking your spirit or your heart at work or around the people you love can be the hardest thing to do.

The pathway to freedom of being yourself is understanding yourself.

You are in fact, pretty cool 😎
Ask me. I know.
