According to the Targeting Scams Report from the National Anti-Scam Centre, in 2025, Australians reported 480,000+ scams… with $2.18 billion lost.

Even more concerning? Losses are still rising even while report volumes stabilise.

Only five scam types drive ~60% of total losses signaling how scams today are more targeted, more convincing and harder to detect.

Great to see the launch of the Children’s Online Privacy Code as a key focus of this year’s Privacy Awareness Week. Carly Kind, Australian Privacy Commissioner, laid it out clearly.

“We have spent more than a year listening to children, parents and carers, educators, industry, civil society and academia about how children’s privacy can be better protected and respected online.”
