That's why we love sharing the Roost with him 🐓

Although I have seen him eat homemade spaghetti and meatballs before, I don't mean he's personally cooking the meatballs.

I'm talking about the tasty work he's cooked up for Newcastle's favourite sandwich joint Chiefly🤴

Our Roost Resident Amber Wilkes from Pocketbook Literary Magazine is helping host the Newcastle Heat of the Australian Poetry Slam, presented by Pocketbook, Word Travels and Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

Perform an original poem for two minutes and take your place in one of more than 60 heats being held across the country.

Not keen to perform? Come along anyway and enjoy an evening of powerful poetry, storytelling and spoken word from some incredible local voices.
