More halter training with the boys home . The calves are coming along really fast. There mothers appear to have forgotten about them and vice versa. They are eating there hay and nuggets and there coats are slowly losing the. We got weaned look. We will let them loose towards the end of the week.

A bit of halter training going on this morning. Some (Barb and Hugs) are a bit more accommodating than others (Narelle).

The cows were in today for our first AI program!

Thanks to Reuben and Katie from Swan’s Veterinary Service for coming out to do the program. We look forward to seeing you in around 6 weeks for preg testing!

The semen used today was LDR OTT, who incidentally is also our new bull Enzo’s Dad.

We picked up a great young sire yesterday at the Cheetara Stud sale in Narrembeen. New bloodlines with a great balance of figures in all the right places. He will grow out a bit yet, and should breed some great rams.

We have been pretty fortunate with our introduction back into cows at Jusak. Up until last night calving had been going along nicely. Yesterday Sage showed all the signs that she was ready to calf and early evening had a hoof showing. That’s where things halted. After giving nature some more time to take its course we needed to intervene. Sage’s calf was back to front - thankfully not bum first breech though. With a fair bit of assistance we managed to deliver her calf, miraculously alive. To say we were relieved this morning to see Mum and Baby up and about doing well is a bit of an understatement.

Name for our new pure mini heifer coming soon!

Everyone meet Xbox! A very energetic calf, unlike it’s mum Sharon.
